Yes—Castr supports both scheduled prerecorded broadcasts and continuous playout that can loop recorded media to YouTube. For a music channel, its suitability depends on more than getting a stream online: check the plan’s current storage, bandwidth and concurrency limits, and secure the rights YouTube requires. Castr does not supply music licenses or guarantee that a channel will qualify for monetization.
What Castr can do for a prerecorded music channel
Castr describes two related workflows. Its prerecorded-live feature lets you upload a finished video, choose a start time and send it out as a live stream to YouTube and other destinations. Its feature information also lists video playlists, 24/7 scheduling and loop mode. For a continuous channel, Castr’s TV playout workflow describes a channel that broadcasts into a Castr livestream and can then be distributed to social destinations, RTMP/SRT endpoints, an embedded player or OTT apps. Scheduled video or continuous channel?
- One finished programme at a set time: prerecorded-live scheduling is the closer fit.
- A channel intended to run continuously: assess the dedicated playout workflow, including playlist limits, scheduling behavior, how updates work and what happens if there is a gap between items.
Do not assume that “24/7” means unlimited files, storage or audience delivery. Confirm how the specific plan handles your planned playlist and run length.

How the YouTube connection works
Castr’s YouTube help article, dated May 19, 2023, describes connecting through an API or setting up the broadcast manually with YouTube’s stream server and stream key. It says that when using a stream key, the description is edited in YouTube’s dashboard. Interface labels may have changed since that article, so follow the current Castr and YouTube screens if they differ. See Castr’s YouTube setup guide.

The key point for planning is that Castr is the distribution and playout layer; the YouTube connection does not establish that you have permission to broadcast the music.
Plans, capacity and published prices
Castr’s pricing comparison lists different monthly and annual prices, bandwidth pools, video-storage allocations, concurrent-stream limits and destination caps by plan. The figures below are those displayed on the vendor’s pricing page at the time reviewed; they can change. Annual equivalents are billed yearly, and the page describes a larger annual bandwidth pool. Check Castr’s current pricing comparison before buying.

Castr’s pricing page also lists a 99.9% uptime SLA; that is Castr’s stated SLA, not an independently measured uptime result. The plan comparison does not by itself establish exact allowances for every scheduled-playout or music-channel workload. Choose based on your actual number of simultaneous outputs, destinations, expected viewer delivery, stored media and whether you need features such as HLS URLs, failover or API access; ask Castr to confirm any unclear playout limits.

Streaming access is not a music license
YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents that it has all necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. A Castr plan or YouTube connection does not grant those rights. Before scheduling a long-running stream, confirm that your permissions cover the recordings, compositions, territories, platform, and the intended live use.

Licensed music can still need platform clearance
YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content and may be temporarily interrupted or terminated if such content is detected. Its guidance also notes that even licensed third-party material may require the channel to be added to the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance. Arrange the relevant permissions and any required allowlisting before relying on a continuous broadcast.
Monetization is a separate decision
A stream that Castr can deliver is not automatically eligible for YouTube monetization. YouTube assesses reused content at the channel level. Its policy notice dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and said there was no change to its reused-content policy. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies; rights compliance and monetization eligibility are separate questions.

When Castr is a reasonable fit
- You want to schedule finished video as a live broadcast or build a continuous recorded-media playout channel.
- Your chosen plan’s current storage, bandwidth, simultaneous-stream and destination limits fit the channel’s actual workload.
- You need Castr’s listed distribution options or plan-specific features, and have confirmed how its playout limits apply to your setup.
- You have the necessary music rights and have considered YouTube’s scanning, allowlisting and channel monetization policies.
