How much cash back does Savor earn?
| Purchase type | Advertised cash back | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible grocery stores | 3% | Excludes superstores such as Walmart and Target; merchant coding determines eligibility. |
| Dining | 3% | Some food sellers and transactions processed through third parties or digital wallets may not qualify for the higher rate. |
| Entertainment | 3% | Eligible merchant categories include certain events and venues; exclusions and coding rules apply. |
| Eligible popular streaming services | 3% | Some subscriptions, including certain audiobook and fitness offerings, are excluded. |
| Other purchases | 1% | Capital One’s listed general purchase rate. |
| Hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel | 5% | Applies to bookings through Capital One Travel, not travel purchases generally. |
These rates and category descriptions are from Capital One’s Savor rewards page, accessed October 7, 2026. What counts as groceries, dining, entertainment and streaming?
Groceries and dining
Capital One excludes superstores such as Walmart and Target from the eligible grocery category. A grocery purchase at a retailer that is not treated as an eligible grocery store may therefore earn only the general rate. Likewise, restaurants, food trucks, carts and food counters within larger establishments do not necessarily earn 3%. Capital One says the merchant’s category code controls, and processing through a third-party payment account or digital wallet can affect the rate.
Entertainment
Capital One’s examples include movie theaters; professional and semi-professional live sports promoters; theatrical promoters; amusement parks; tourist attractions; aquariums and zoos; dance halls; record stores; pool halls; and bowling alleys. The issuer excludes golf courses, collegiate sporting events and some merchants whose codes do not fall within its eligible entertainment categories. The venue or event alone does not guarantee the bonus rate.
Streaming
Eligible popular streaming examples include music and video services such as Netflix, Hulu and Disney+. Capital One excludes certain offerings, including audiobook subscriptions and fitness programming. The service and how the payment is coded both matter, so a familiar brand name is not a guarantee that every charge earns 3%.
Is the $200 welcome bonus attainable?
The required $500 in purchases over three months averages about $167 per month, but the important question is whether you can reach it with ordinary spending. Do not buy things you do not need or carry a balance just to earn a bonus. The bonus is subject to the prior-bonus restriction, the eligible-account terms and the specific offer shown to you; Capital One says it is credited within two billing cycles after you qualify.
Before applying, verify that the offer belongs to the exact Savor version you are considering. Capital One’s Good Credit variant page says that version does not include new-cardmember bonus cash or a 0% introductory APR, while the reviewed offer page displays the $200 bonus. The current Savor offer page and Capital One’s Savor rewards page present product information; terms shown in your application are the ones to review.
What are the fees and APR?
The offer reviewed lists a $0 annual fee and no foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the United States. Capital One’s offer page accessed October 7, 2026, also displayed a 0% introductory APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, followed by a variable APR of 18.49%–28.49%; balance transfers carry fees. These credit terms can vary by applicant and may change, so check the live pricing disclosure before applying.
A promotional balance-transfer rate does not make a transfer automatically worthwhile. Compare the transfer fee, how much you can repay before the introductory period ends, and the APR that applies afterward. Cash back does not offset interest if you carry a balance; treat rewards and borrowing costs as separate decisions.

Who is Capital One Savor best for?
- Potentially a strong fit: You spend consistently at eligible grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment venues or streaming services, and the card’s category definitions match your purchases.
- Less compelling: Much of your grocery spending is at excluded superstores, your entertainment or food purchases often fall outside the eligible merchant codes, or most of your spending earns only 1%.
- Not a reason to apply: You would need to spend extra to reach the welcome-bonus threshold, or you expect to carry a balance and pay interest.
To compare Savor with another card, calculate rewards using your own spending rather than headline rates alone. Include the other card’s annual fee and the spending needed to make it worthwhile, each card’s rates on your real purchases, category exclusions, bonus deadline and eligibility, APR and transfer terms, redemption options, foreign transaction fees, and any booking or ticketing restrictions.
Verdict
Savor’s mix of a $0 annual fee, no foreign transaction fees and 3% cash back in several everyday and leisure categories is appealing when those categories match your spending and transactions qualify. The advertised $200 bonus adds value only if you meet its conditions through normal purchases and are eligible for that particular offer. Check the application’s exact terms and category rules before deciding.
