CapCut Pro is not a universal requirement for editing or exporting videos. The free version can produce watermark-free exports in many cases, and a template’s CapCut outro can usually be deleted. Pro becomes more valuable when you need premium effects and templates, AI features, 4K/60fps export, larger cloud storage, or the same premium workspace across devices.
The subscription is worth it for frequent creators who regularly hit those limits. For occasional edits, social clips, and users who mainly need trimming, captions, transitions, and basic exports, CapCut Free is usually sufficient.

CapCut’s documentation differs on storage: its new-subscriber pricing page lists 1 TB for the upgraded Pro plan, while its generic Pro-plan page still says 100 GB. Older app versions can also show legacy benefits such as 480 AI credits and 100 GB of storage, as CapCut explains in its downgrade guidance. Check the plan details displayed in your own account.

The main practical limitation is not that the free editor is unusable. It is that individual items and settings are gated. A template, font, effect, AI tool, or export option carrying a Pro badge can trigger a subscription prompt.
Does CapCut Free always add a watermark?
No. The claim that every free CapCut export has a watermark is too broad. CapCut says watermark-free exports are allowed in most cases, as explained in its watermark-free export guidance.
A watermark often comes from the project itself rather than the export engine. Common causes include:
- A CapCut ending clip placed at the end of a template timeline.
- A branded stock video or image that requires attribution.
- A template element containing visible branding.
Before exporting, inspect the entire timeline. On CapCut Web, scroll to the end and delete the CapCut ending clip if one is present. Replace branded stock assets where necessary. This can remove the visible watermark without a Pro subscription.
Pro may still be needed if the project also uses a premium asset or a Pro-only export setting. In other words, paying is not automatically the solution to every watermark problem.
What CapCut Pro adds
Premium creative assets
Pro unlocks templates, effects, filters, fonts, stickers, and other materials identified with a Pro badge. If you frequently find the exact look you want locked behind that badge, the subscription can save time and avoid rebuilding a project with free substitutes. CapCut lists these among the features that can prompt a Pro subscription.
AI tools and credits
CapCut includes AI-powered generation and other AI functions in its paid plans. These features consume AI credits, which are separate from your subscription payment balance. CapCut’s updated pricing information says Pro increased from 550 to 1,200 AI credits; older app versions may show different figures.

Unused CapCut credits also cannot be used to purchase Pro, Teams, or storage upgrades. They are a separate pay-per-use currency for AI features, according to CapCut’s Pro purchase help page.

4K/60fps and other export options
CapCut identifies 4K/60fps export as a Pro-gated capability. This matters if you are delivering footage for a 4K display, preserving high-resolution camera footage, or producing smooth 60fps video. It matters less for ordinary social-media clips that will be viewed at lower resolutions and may be recompressed by the platform. See CapCut’s list of Pro-gated features.
More cloud storage
The newer Pro pricing information lists 1 TB of cloud storage, compared with the older 100-GB figure. That is a substantial difference for people moving projects between devices or keeping source media online. Treat the amount shown in your current subscription screen as authoritative, especially if you use an older app version. CapCut describes the updated amount in its new pricing details.
Cross-device Pro access
CapCut Pro is account-based. A subscription bought on Web, mobile, or desktop is intended to unlock Pro benefits on the other supported platforms when you sign in with the same CapCut account, according to CapCut’s subscription instructions.
Standard is different. CapCut describes Standard as primarily a mobile-app plan and states that premium access on PC requires Pro. If desktop editing is important, do not assume that Standard will provide the same access; see CapCut’s supported-device information.

There is no single worldwide CapCut Pro price. The amount can change based on your country, currency, device or platform, taxes, promotions, and whether you subscribe through an app store. CapCut also says account-specific promotions can cause two accounts to see different prices.
Check the actual checkout screen before deciding:

Is the CapCut Pro free trial available?
CapCut offers a seven-day Pro trial to eligible new users in supported regions. A valid payment method is required, and the trial automatically changes to a paid subscription after seven days unless you cancel it. These terms and eligibility details are in CapCut’s free-trial help page.
On the Web version, sign in, open your profile, select Upgrade to Pro, and look for Start 7-Day Free Trial. If the account is eligible, this appears instead of Subscribe Now.
On mobile, the app may show Try 7 Days Free on iOS or Start Free Trial on Android. CapCut’s current help information lists mobile app version 8.20 or later as a requirement.
The trial may not appear if you have ever had an active Pro subscription or used a previous trial, even briefly. Region, account history, and app version also affect eligibility. Cancel through Apple or Google on mobile, or through the relevant CapCut billing page on Web, at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge, as CapCut explains in its cancellation guidance.
When CapCut Pro is worth paying for
Choose Pro if you edit frequently
A monthly subscription can make sense when CapCut is part of a regular workflow. Frequent editing makes premium templates, faster asset selection, AI tools, higher export settings, and cloud access more valuable than they are for a one-off project.
Choose Pro if you need 4K/60fps delivery
If your camera records 4K or 60fps and you want to preserve those settings through export, Pro is the straightforward choice when CapCut marks the required setting as locked.
Choose Pro if you work across devices
Creators who start on a phone, continue on a laptop, and keep large source files online can benefit from Pro’s cross-device access and expanded cloud storage. Use the same sign-in method and CapCut account on every device; buying Pro on one account will not unlock another account.

Choose Pro if AI is central to your workflow
AI captions, generation, and related tools can save substantial manual work. The value depends on how often you use them and whether the plan’s monthly credit allocation covers your usage. Do not treat AI credits as general account credit for buying other CapCut services.
When CapCut Free is the better choice
Stay with Free if you mainly:
- Make short clips for personal use or social media.
- Use your own footage and free editing tools.
- Export at standard resolutions and frame rates.
- Can remove a template’s ending clip manually.
- Do not need large cloud storage or regular desktop/mobile project handoffs.
- Rarely use AI generation or premium templates.
Before subscribing, try replacing every Pro-badged item in the project. You may discover that the only apparent restriction was one effect, font, stock asset, or outro.
Common subscription problems
Pro is not showing after payment
- Confirm that you are signed in with the account that made the purchase.
- Update CapCut on the device that is not recognizing the plan.
- Close and reopen the app or website.
- On Desktop, allow roughly 10–30 seconds after returning from the Web checkout for membership status to refresh, as CapCut notes in its subscription instructions.
- If you installed an older version, update to the latest version and sign in again.
An older CapCut version may interpret a newer Pro plan as an older membership, fail to recognize Standard, or display reduced benefits such as 480 AI credits and 100 GB storage. CapCut describes these version-related issues in its downgrade guidance.

The price is different at checkout
Compare the checkout total, not just the promotional label inside the app. Taxes, exchange rates, regional fees, app-store charges, and account-specific promotions can all change the final amount. A cheaper price on another account is not necessarily a billing error; see CapCut’s account-specific pricing explanation.
You want to cancel or request a refund
Pro auto-renews. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Mobile subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google, while Web subscriptions use the CapCut billing flow. CapCut describes subscriptions as virtual goods and says purchases generally do not support refunds, although special cases such as accidental duplicate billing may be submitted for review under its terms. - Open the project you actually need to finish.
- List every item with a Pro badge and note whether it is essential.
- Check the export resolution and frame-rate requirement.
- Estimate how much cloud storage and cross-device access you will use.
- Open the subscription screen and record the exact monthly and annual totals, including the checkout amount.
- Compare that cost with the time saved and the value of the features you would use repeatedly.
If only one template or effect is locked, Free is probably enough. If several projects depend on Pro assets, AI credits, 4K/60fps export, or large cloud storage, Pro is easier to justify. For a short-term production, the seven-day trial can be useful if it is genuinely available to your account—just set a cancellation reminder before activation.

Can I export from CapCut without Pro?
Yes, in many cases. Basic projects can be exported without Pro, and a visible CapCut watermark often comes from an editable ending clip, template element, or branded stock asset. Does CapCut Pro remove all watermarks?
Pro supports watermark-free export, but it is not necessary for every watermark. A CapCut outro or branded template asset may be removable in the editor without a subscription.
Is CapCut Standard the same as Pro?
