Some Samsung Galaxy phones support wireless charging, but not all do. Check your exact model first; if it is supported, use a compatible Qi charger, connect it to the required power source, and align the phone’s charging coil with the pad. Fast wireless charging is a separate compatibility check and may require a setting to be enabled.
Which Samsung phones support wireless charging?
Samsung’s US troubleshooting guide lists wireless charging on Galaxy S6 and newer S-series generations through S25, selected Galaxy Note models through Note20, and Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip families. The same guide says Galaxy A, XCover, and Tab devices do not support it. These family-level listings are a starting point, not a substitute for checking your exact model: lineups and support information can change. How to charge a Samsung phone wirelessly
- Confirm compatibility. Look up your exact model in its current Samsung specifications or user manual. If the phone does not support wireless charging, a different pad or setting will not add that capability. [c001]
- Choose a compatible charger. Check that it supports Qi and is appropriate for your phone’s wireless-charging capability. If you want fast wireless charging, verify the Samsung and Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification Samsung specifies; a generic wireless-charging label does not establish fast-charge compatibility. - Connect the charger correctly. Use the adapter and cable specified for the pad, and make sure both connections are secure and the power source works. [c001][c005]
- Position the phone on the pad. Place its back against the charging surface and adjust it until the phone’s coil aligns with the charger’s coil. Coil locations and third-party pad layouts vary by model and charger. For a foldable, follow the placement directions for that exact model; Samsung’s guidance calls for closing foldables and placing them back-side down. [c001][c003]
- Check the fast-charging setting if needed. If your phone supports fast wireless charging but is not using it, look in Battery or Charging settings for the relevant option. The menu name and path vary by phone model and software version. [c002][c003]
How to choose a wireless charger
Check the phone and the charger together rather than relying on a charger’s advertised maximum output alone.

- Qi compatibility and certification: Confirm Qi compatibility for wireless charging. For Samsung fast wireless charging, check the certification requirements in Samsung’s guidance instead of assuming every Qi pad supports it. [c001][c003]
- Supported speed: Check what your exact phone model supports and what the charger can deliver. Supported capabilities and speeds vary. [c002][c003]
- Power supply: Make sure the adapter and cable meet the charger’s requirements; Samsung recommends the supplied or specified accessories. [c001][c005]
- Coil alignment: A pad or stand needs to hold the phone where its charging coil lines up with the charger’s coil. Layouts differ, including among third-party chargers. [c001]
- Cases and magnetic accessories: Check whether your case or accessory is compatible with the charger. Samsung’s cited US troubleshooting guide says non-Samsung cases should be no thicker than 5 mm, but thickness alone does not guarantee compatibility; material and design also matter. For Galaxy S25 magnetic-cover guidance, Samsung discusses MPP compatibility and coil alignment. [c001][c006]
There is no universal time-to-full estimate established by the cited Samsung guidance. Charging time depends on the phone, charger, case, temperature, alignment, and settings, so a time comparison is meaningful only when those conditions are specified. [c002][c003]

Why a Samsung phone may not charge wirelessly
- The model is not supported. Verify the exact model before troubleshooting the pad. Samsung’s support guide excludes Galaxy A, XCover, and Tab devices from wireless charging. [c001]
- The charger has no power. Check the power source, adapter, cable, and connections. If possible, verify the power source with another device. [c001][c005]
- The coils are misaligned. Reposition the phone on the pad. Poor alignment can interrupt charging or reduce speed; use model-specific instructions for foldables. [c001][c003]
- An accessory is in the way. Remove the case, skin, holder, cards, metal plate, or magnetic accessory temporarily and try again. Cases and accessories may interfere even when they appear to fit. [c001][c005]
- Fast charging is not available or enabled. Confirm that the phone supports fast wireless charging, the charger meets the applicable certification requirements, and the setting is enabled if your model provides one. [c001][c002]
- The phone is too warm. Samsung says high temperature can slow charging or stop it temporarily. Let the phone cool before trying again. [c004]
- Software or hardware needs attention. If charging disconnects, check for a software update. If compatibility, power, placement, accessories, settings, and cooling do not resolve the issue, contact Samsung support or arrange service. [c001][c004]
Fast wireless charging: what to know
Fast wireless charging depends on both the phone and charger, and may require an enabled setting. Samsung states that fast wireless charging is enabled only on devices certified by Samsung and the Wireless Power Consortium. Look for the fast wireless charging option under Battery or Charging settings on supported phones; the precise label and menu path vary by model and software version. [c001][c002][c003]
