Not confirmed. Rockstar says GTA VI’s story will not take players everywhere in Leonida, but it has not confirmed that every area will be accessible after the ending. As of October 3, 2026, the game was unreleased, so post-story access could not be verified in-game.
What Rockstar has confirmed about the story and map
Rockstar senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries said the story is designed to take players around the map in an authentic and interesting way, but not everywhere. The aim, he said, is to let players explore and get a feel for “most of the places, cultures, and vibes.” That means finishing the story should not be treated as proof that the campaign has shown players every part of Leonida. Does the whole map become available after the ending?
Rockstar has not confirmed that every part of the map can be visited after the story ends. The fact that the campaign does not cover the whole map leaves room for post-story exploration, but it does not establish that all areas are open, or that there are no restrictions. Whether any places remain inaccessible after the ending is still unknown.

What hidden map sections mean
In a published English translation of a Famitsu interview, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said unexplored areas are hidden on the map and become visible when players visit them, as in GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. That describes how map sections are revealed; it does not confirm that every region is reachable at every point in the story or after the ending. Read the English translation of Nelson’s interview.

Nelson has also described discoveries beyond objectives and map icons as part of exploration, according to GamesRadar’s report on his IGN interview. This encourages players to look beyond marked activities, but it is not a statement about post-game boundaries.

PlayStation listed GTA VI for PS5 with a scheduled release date of November 19, 2026. As of October 3, 2026, it had not been released, so there was no way to check endgame access in the finished game. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page and PlayStation game page provide the relevant official release and platform details.

Some coverage describes Leonida’s map as around twice the area of GTA V’s world, based on reporting about Rockstar’s Aaron Garbut. That is an approximate comparison, not an official measurement in square miles, and it says nothing about which areas are accessible after the story. Notebookcheck’s report includes the comparison.
