Not directly. Vultr Object Storage can store and serve video files, but a Vultr object URL is not a YouTube Live ingest endpoint. To publish a finished video, retrieve it from Vultr and upload it through YouTube Studio or the YouTube Data API. To broadcast live, use an encoder that sends a real-time stream to YouTube with its server URL and stream key.

Why a Vultr video URL is not a YouTube stream

Vultr Object Storage is S3-compatible storage for unstructured data, including media files. Its supported operations include uploading and retrieving objects, multipart uploads, and presigned URLs. Vultr’s compatibility matrix lists bucket website hosting as unsupported, so Object Storage should not be mistaken for a complete video-streaming platform or a YouTube connector (Vultr S3 compatibility matrix).

The URL roles are different: a public object or CDN URL serves a stored file to a reader or application; YouTube’s ingest URL receives a live encoder signal. YouTube’s documented workflows describe uploading media through Studio or its API, and live broadcasting through an encoder. They do not describe YouTube fetching a video directly from a Vultr object URL (YouTube live encoder setup; YouTube Data API upload guide).

Choose the right publishing workflow

Upload a finished video from Vultr

  1. Retrieve the source file. Use an application or operator with permission to access the Vultr object. For private files, use suitable access controls; Vultr recommends keeping buckets private by default and using server-generated, time-limited presigned URLs for private distribution (Vultr Object Storage security guidance).
  2. Upload the media to YouTube. Use YouTube Studio, or build an authorized integration with the YouTube Data API’s videos.insert method. Google’s upload guide demonstrates a resumable upload of a local media file; in an automated Vultr workflow, your application retrieves the object and then sends its media bytes to YouTube. This is a two-service transfer, not a direct URL import.
  3. Check the video file and upload constraints. YouTube recommends an MP4 container with H.264 video and AAC-LC or Opus audio, and publishes bitrate recommendations by resolution and frame rate (YouTube recommended upload encoding settings). These are YouTube recommendations; Vultr does not thereby transcode the object or make it upload-ready.
  4. For API automation, verify current limits and project status. The videos.insert API reference documents a maximum media file size of 256 GB and 100 calls per day for that method. It also says uploads from unverified API projects created after 28 July 2020 are restricted to private viewing until the project passes an audit. Check the current API reference and quota before building a publishing pipeline (YouTube videos.insert API reference).

Send a live broadcast to YouTube

  1. Create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio. Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key for that stream.
  2. Configure a live encoder. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the encoder, then send the live signal to YouTube. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP; it also documents HLS ingestion for supported encoder workflows, including HDR configurations (YouTube live encoder setup).
  3. Set output quality to match your production and connection. YouTube’s current live settings recommend H.264 ingestion at 10 Mbps for 1080p30 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a claim about Vultr storage bandwidth. Test the stream and ensure available upload bandwidth can sustain the chosen bitrate (YouTube live encoder settings).
  4. Protect the stream key. Treat it as a credential: anyone who has it may be able to send a stream to the associated YouTube destination. Do not put it in a public object, a shared document, or client-side code.

Object Storage can separately retain source files or archives, but it does not replace the encoder-to-YouTube ingest path.

Use Vultr for file delivery, not YouTube publishing

If your goal is to deliver a file directly to viewers outside YouTube, Vultr describes placing a CDN Pull Zone in front of public content to cache it and reduce origin egress. Consider audience geography, caching, access control, and exposure of the origin bucket. For private distribution, use appropriate access controls and time-limited presigned URLs. Neither a direct object URL nor a CDN URL publishes a video as a YouTube upload or starts a YouTube live broadcast (Vultr Object Storage security guidance).

Or let it run in the cloud

If what you need is a prerecorded YouTube channel live 24/7, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service for looping uploaded videos on YouTube; it does not use Vultr object URLs as YouTube ingest. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running, so nothing has to stay on at home. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot; automatic recovery helps if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
