Sometimes—but canceling a subscription does not, by itself, answer whether you can keep using a particular clip. The answer depends on the provider, the exact plan and license, when the clip was licensed or registered, and whether the license permits your YouTube use and audience size. Check those details before relying on the video in a continuing or newly published stream.

What to check before using a stock clip after cancellation

  1. Identify the provider and exact plan. Standard subscriptions and plans labeled Unlimited or Unmetered may have materially different rules.
  2. Verify a license was granted for the clip and production. Having the video file on your computer is not necessarily proof that it was validly licensed. Some plans require you to register each use while the subscription is active.
  3. Check the permitted use and audience. Confirm that the license covers YouTube and any audience-size or distribution limits that apply.
  4. Distinguish continued use of an existing production from a new use. A provider may preserve rights for content published while subscribed while restricting a new stream or version made after expiry.
  5. Save your records. Keep the asset identifier, receipt, license certificate or history, any project-registration record, and the applicable terms.

Also check asset-specific restrictions, including whether a clip is editorial-only. Adobe’s license terms describe separate restrictions for editorial assets: Adobe Stock license terms.

How the rules differ by provider and plan

Provider or plan What the reviewed terms say after cancellation YouTube or distribution point What to verify
Shutterstock validly licensed video Shutterstock says videos downloaded with a valid license may continue to be used after a plan ends, and describes those rights as perpetual and non-transferable. The Standard Video License permits YouTube as web use, subject to an audience limit of 500,000. The Enhanced Video License describes broader web and online-video distribution. Check the specific license tier and whether the stream’s audience and distribution fit its terms. See Shutterstock’s cancellation guidance and video-license guidance.
Shutterstock Unlimited The plan-specific fair-usage policy says content may only be used during the active subscription term and each use must be registered while subscribed. It also prohibits stockpiling downloads for use after cancellation. Do not assume that a file downloaded under Unlimited has the same post-cancellation rights as a standard licensed video. Confirm the exact plan and whether the production was registered in time. Read the Shutterstock Unlimited Fair Usage Policy.
Adobe Stock Adobe’s terms generally preserve perpetual licenses after termination, but state exceptions for Unmetered or Unlimited Plans. Unused subscription credits or standard assets are forfeited when the subscription ends. Social-media use must remain within the Adobe license scope and the platform’s agreement. Identify the plan, asset, license type, and terms in force when the license was granted. See Adobe Stock terms.
Epidemic Sound (music, not footage) Epidemic Sound says content published while subscribed remains cleared to monetize permanently; new content published after expiry using its music can be monetized by Epidemic Sound. This is a music policy and does not establish rights for stock-footage video. Check music and visual-footage rights separately. See Epidemic Sound’s cancellation guidance.

The Shutterstock audience figure is a limit stated for Standard Video License web use, including YouTube, in its video-license guidance dated August 19, 2025. Shutterstock’s cancellation guidance is dated August 21, 2025; its Unlimited policy is dated August 18, 2026. Adobe’s reviewed Stock Additional Terms are identified as January 16, 2026. Terms can change, so confirm the version applicable to your license and the current terms before relying on a clip.

What this means for an always-on YouTube stream

A stream running continuously can raise a different practical question from a one-time upload: whether the clip’s license covers the ongoing or repeated use, the channel’s audience, and the particular production. The provider guidance establishes general license rules, not whether a specific stream will qualify. Check the actual license and plan rather than assuming that a previous download, upload, or publication settles every later use.

These license rules also do not predict how YouTube will handle a specific copyright or Content ID claim. A claim outcome depends on the specific material and circumstances; the cited provider policies do not guarantee that a stream will avoid platform claims.

Keep proof of the license

  • Save the asset ID and the invoice, license certificate, or license-history record.
  • Record the exact plan and license tier, and retain any project-registration confirmation.
  • Keep a copy or record of the terms that applied when the license was granted.
  • For Adobe, download licensed assets and preserve records before termination: its terms say assets or license-history outputs might not remain available afterward.
  • If you cannot establish that a clip was validly licensed for this production, do not treat the local download as sufficient proof. Ask the provider to clarify or replace the clip with one whose permitted use you can document.

Keep the stream running separately from the rights question

A cloud streaming service can keep uploaded videos playing, but it cannot expand a stock license or make an unlicensed use permissible. Resolve the rights question first. If your clips are cleared and you want a YouTube channel to keep playing while your computer is off, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos and playlists from the cloud: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is YouTube-only; it does not go live from a camera.
