Yes, YouTube’s cited policies do not categorically prohibit a static image in a livestream. But if you hope to monetize a 24/7 nature sounds stream, a single still image paired with repetitive audio carries a real policy risk: YouTube says repetitive or mass-produced content and image slideshows with little or no narrative, commentary, or educational value may be ineligible for monetization. The policy does not specifically decide this exact format, so approval cannot be guaranteed.
For creators in India, treat three questions separately: whether you have the rights to the recording, whether the stream and channel offer original value, and whether the channel qualifies for YouTube monetization. Permission to use the sound answers only the rights question.
What YouTube’s policy means for a static-image nature stream
YouTube’s channel monetization policy says monetized content should be original and “authentic,” rather than generic, repetitive, or mass-produced. It identifies similar or repetitive material with little educational value, commentary, narrative, or variation—and image slideshows with little or no such value—as examples that may not monetize. YouTube also says “video” in the policy includes live streams. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe slideshow example is relevant, but it is not a ruling on every stream that uses one still image. Applying it to a static image accompanied by nature audio is an inference. The practical issue is the overall channel: YouTube says reviewers may consider its theme, recent and most-viewed uploads, watch-time share, metadata, and About section. A single image is therefore not the only factor, and changing the image alone would not establish that the content is original or valuable.

On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified the policy by renaming “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” YouTube said repetitive and mass-produced content had already been ineligible under its expectation of original, authentic work. See TeamYouTube’s July 2025 response.
How to assess monetization risk before going live
Make the stream distinct, not merely continuous
Ask what a viewer gets from this particular stream beyond a generic still and a loop. Clear authorship and meaningful, distinctive viewer value are sensible goals based on YouTube’s stated review factors, but they do not guarantee monetization. Consider whether the audio, presentation, and channel have a coherent identity and whether the channel’s uploads are meaningfully distinct rather than interchangeable variations of the same loop.

- Music Therapist Developed: Developed by a music therapist who gives a percentage of profits to help kids with cancer
- Premium Quality Manufacturing: High quality CDs NOT made in China - Unlike cheaper CDs like CD-Rs, this CD will work in all players
- Thoughtful Gift Packaging: Gift quality packaging makes a thoughtful gift for those with stress, anxiety or insomnia
Review the channel as a whole
- Check whether the channel’s theme, uploads, titles, descriptions, and About section clearly reflect original work.
- Consider whether the stream adds narrative, educational context, or meaningful variation rather than relying on a still image and repetitive sound alone.
- Do not assume that a technically permitted format automatically qualifies for the YouTube Partner Program.
These are risk-reduction considerations drawn from YouTube’s policy examples and review criteria, not a checklist that guarantees acceptance.
Clear the audio rights separately
YouTube’s livestream terms say creators represent that they have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of their live content, including music licensing rights where applicable, and that they will comply with laws and regulatory requirements that apply in the stream territory. The terms also require live content to comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.

Before streaming, retain evidence of your rights to the actual sound recording and any other included material. Read the license closely: the available policy information does not establish whether a particular license covers continuous livestreaming, archiving, or monetization. Rights clearance and monetization eligibility are separate; permission to use a recording does not make a channel eligible for YPP.
Check YouTube’s live-streaming and revenue requirements
Eligibility to start a livestream
YouTube says a channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16 years old. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming setup requirements before scheduling the stream.

Possible revenue features are not guaranteed income
For eligible channels with monetization enabled for the stream, YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible revenue features. YouTube cautions that ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. See how YouTube monetizes live streams.
What this means specifically for creators in India
The cited YouTube terms require compliance with applicable rules in the territory where a livestream is made available, but they do not establish which India-specific tax, business, or broadcasting requirements apply to this plan. If those obligations matter to your operation, verify them separately with current official Indian sources or a qualified adviser. This policy assessment is not a conclusion about Indian law.
