Yes. You can send one pre-recorded video to two YouTube channels at the same time, but each channel needs its own live-stream destination. You can configure a local encoder to send the video to both destinations, or send one feed to a cloud relay that distributes it to both. YouTube requires a separate live-stream resource for each channel; one channel’s stream key does not automatically publish to another.

What you need before you start

  • Live-stream eligibility on both channels: Both must have live streaming enabled and neither can be under a live-stream restriction. YouTube says a restricted account cannot evade that restriction by streaming through another channel. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance.
  • A separate destination for each channel: Create or schedule the intended live event on each channel and get that channel’s stream details. YouTube’s API documentation requires a different liveStream resource for each channel: LiveStreams resource.
  • The same source video available to your encoder or relay: The source can be shared, while the destinations remain separate.
  • A delivery method: Use a local encoder capable of sending multiple outputs, or a cloud relay that accepts one feed and distributes it to both YouTube destinations.

Choose how to send the video to both channels

Option 1: Send separate outputs from a local encoder

Configure your encoding software or hardware to send the same prerecorded feed to both channels’ stream URLs and keys. This provides direct control over the feed and destinations, but the encoder must handle the work and your internet connection must carry the combined upload traffic. YouTube’s guidance explains that local encoding uses your device’s processing capacity and that simultaneous destinations require sufficient upload bandwidth: YouTube’s simulstreaming guidance.

For two separate outputs, estimate the upload demand by adding the bitrates being sent. Leave headroom for normal network variation; a connection that only just matches the total can result in buffering or dropped delivery. The appropriate bitrate depends on your chosen output settings and the available connection—there is no universal bitrate for this workflow.

Option 2: Send one feed through a cloud relay

Send the video once to a relay service, then configure that service to deliver it to both channels. This avoids encoding and uploading two independent outputs from your own connection, though you still need to verify that the specific service supports prerecorded or scheduled broadcasts and separate YouTube destinations. YouTube describes cloud distribution as an option for sending a feed to multiple destinations, but does not certify a particular relay vendor.

Set up and test both destinations

  1. Check channel eligibility. Confirm live streaming is available on each channel and neither is restricted. Do not try to bypass a restriction by using the other channel.
  2. Create or schedule each live event. In YouTube Studio, set up the intended broadcast on each channel. Check the event’s visibility and planned start time separately; settings on one channel do not configure the other.
  3. Copy each channel’s stream details. Use the stream URL and stream key associated with that channel’s event. YouTube calls stream keys the encoder’s password and address; keep them private. See Manage live stream settings.
  4. Configure the encoder or relay. For local output, add both channel destinations. For a relay, provide the incoming feed and configure two distinct YouTube outputs. Confirm that the service handles prerecorded playback and scheduling if you need those features.
  5. Run a test before the planned broadcast. Verify that each channel receives the correct video and audio, displays the intended event and visibility, and starts at the expected time. Check for buffering or dropped delivery, especially if you are sending two local outputs.
  6. Start the broadcast and monitor both channels. A successful connection to one destination does not prove that the other is receiving the feed. Check each event independently.

Important rules and failure points

  • Do not reuse one channel’s key as though it covers both. Each channel needs its own live-stream resource and destination details.
  • Protect stream keys. Anyone who obtains a key may be able to send a feed to its associated destination. If a key is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before the next broadcast.
  • Follow YouTube’s policies. Live streams remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A live-stream restriction cannot be worked around by switching channels.
  • Check the local upload and encoder load. When separate outputs fail or stutter, the connection may not sustain their aggregate bitrate, or the device may be overloaded encoding them. Reduce output demands or use a relay that distributes one incoming feed.
  • Confirm relay capabilities instead of assuming them. General multistream support does not establish support for prerecorded scheduling, two YouTube channels, or your specific workflow. Check those points with the provider before relying on it.
