Yes, if your channel is eligible and you have the necessary rights and approvals for every recording and composition in the broadcast. YouTube supports encoder-based live streaming, but a license may not prevent a music interruption unless the relevant rights owner also allowlists your channel in Content ID. There is an important operational catch: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive, so a continuous broadcast is not a reliable way to create one complete replay.
The YouTube guidance cited here does not establish which Indian licenses or collecting-society arrangements apply to a particular catalog. Confirm those requirements with the rights holders and an India-qualified music-rights professional before going live.

What must be in place before you stream
Meet YouTube’s live-stream eligibility conditions
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the past 90 days. Its general live-streaming guidance also states a minimum age of 16. Check YouTube’s current live eligibility guidance before launch because platform rules can change.

Clear the rights to both the recordings and the music
For each song, establish who controls the recording and the underlying composition, and confirm permissions from the relevant performers, label, publisher and any other rights participants. The permission needs to cover the intended live broadcast, platform, territory and duration. YouTube’s livestream terms place the responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including music licensing rights.

A channel’s location in India does not, by itself, settle which permissions are needed. The official YouTube guidance discussed here requires compliance with applicable territory rules but does not specify the Indian legal or collecting-society requirements for a particular repertoire. Get current, India-specific advice for the music you plan to play.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
Music permission and Content ID allowlisting address different problems. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and warns that a stream may still be interrupted even when the creator has a license if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. Ask each relevant rights owner whether allowlisting is required, and have them confirm it before relying on a continuous broadcast.

Do not treat “free music” or Creator Music as blanket clearance
A description saying that music is “free” does not establish that you have streaming rights or prevent a Content ID claim. YouTube also says Creator Music revenue-sharing tracks under those conditions cannot be used in live streams. Neither a track description nor a Creator Music arrangement should be treated as clearance for a 24/7 music broadcast.

YouTube supports both computer software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. The steps below follow its general encoder workflow; the exact controls can vary by encoder and YouTube’s interface may change.
Rank #3
- Enable live streaming for the channel. Verify the channel and confirm that it meets YouTube’s current eligibility conditions before scheduling a broadcast.
- Prepare the program. Assemble only recordings and compositions for which the required permissions are in place. Decide whether the encoder will play a prepared sequence or receive audio and video from another source. Keep a separate copy of the source files and any records documenting permissions.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or configure the live stream and locate the stream URL and stream key in the stream’s encoder settings.
- Enter the stream details in your encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the corresponding fields in the software or hardware encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Check the connection and preview. Start the encoder’s preview or connection process and confirm in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the intended picture and sound. Check that the correct stream is selected before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the stream and monitor it. Begin the broadcast from the encoder and check that it is accessible on the channel and watch pages, including on mobile. Monitor audio and video throughout the run rather than assuming a successful start means the stream will remain healthy.
YouTube recommends checking that upload bandwidth is adequate and monitoring audio and video quality. Its guidance supports both software and hardware encoders; it does not prescribe one product as the right choice for every creator. A professional-grade hardware encoder can suit a higher-production-value event, but YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started.
Choose between one long stream and planned sessions
A 24/7 feed and a complete YouTube replay are different goals. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers or rights holders that a continuous feed will produce a complete archive.
Rank #4
- In the Lonely Hour (Drowning Shadows Edition) includes 14 tracks from the Deluxe Edition of his 2014 debut album, plus an additional 9 tracks featuring new songs, covers, live performances and collaborations
If an on-platform replay matters, consider planned sessions shorter than 12 hours and test your restart procedure before depending on it. A scheduled restart may create opportunities for archiving, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted playback. If keeping a complete record matters, maintain a separate recording or archive strategy outside the live stream.
Plan for interruptions and operating costs
Continuous streaming depends on more than the encoder. A home-based setup also depends on its computer, power, network connection and playback chain staying available. YouTube advises checking upload bandwidth and continuously monitoring the feed. A backup connection or encoder and a local recording strategy can help with operational resilience, but neither replaces music permissions or Content ID allowlisting.
Best Value
Compare your practical options by the trade-offs that matter for your channel:
| Approach | Useful when | Trade-off to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a computer | You want a computer-based workflow and can keep its playback and network setup running. | The broadcast depends on the computer and its connection remaining available. YouTube supports software encoders but does not endorse a particular one in the guidance discussed here. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | You need dedicated encoding hardware or external audio/video connections. | It adds a hardware setup to configure and monitor. YouTube says hardware encoders are supported, but expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. |
| Planned shorter sessions | You want to improve the chance of getting YouTube archives for individual sessions. | Sessions and restarts need planning and testing; a restart is not a guarantee of uninterrupted playback. |
| One continuous stream | Unbroken live availability matters more than a complete YouTube replay. | A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all as an archive. |
Troubleshoot the most likely problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, the current live-stream eligibility conditions and whether the channel has had a live-stream restriction in the past 90 days.
- The encoder does not connect: Compare the stream URL and stream key in the encoder with the values in Live Control Room. Check the network connection and available upload bandwidth; replace the key in the encoder if you have changed it in YouTube.
- The stream is interrupted after music begins: A license may not be enough to avoid Content ID interruption. Ask the relevant rights owner to confirm whether the channel needs to be allowlisted, and resolve any rights or claims issue before restarting.
- The stream plays but no complete replay appears: YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Use a separate recording strategy or test planned sessions shorter than 12 hours if archives are important.
- Viewers report missing or poor audio/video: Check the incoming feed in Live Control Room, verify the encoder is using the intended source, test on the channel and watch pages—including mobile—and continue monitoring quality during the broadcast.
- A song is labeled “free” but is flagged: A description is not proof of streaming rights. Confirm the rights for the recording and composition with their owners and ask about Content ID allowlisting.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the music is already recorded and cleared for your planned YouTube broadcast, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping that uploaded video live on YouTube. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded material from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It does not broadcast from a camera, and it does not provide music rights or replace Content ID allowlisting.
- One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card; the Monthly price is $9.99 per month.
UPI and cards are supported in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free StreamNeo day.
