No—not as one documented Vimeo workflow. Vimeo supports YouTube simulcasting for live events, and it offers an extended-streaming mode for 24/7 video from an encoder. But Vimeo says extended streams cannot simulcast to other destinations. You can use Vimeo for a scheduled prerecorded event or use its regular YouTube simulcast feature, but neither is documented as a continuous 24/7 YouTube simulcast. If continuous prerecorded playback on YouTube is the goal, use a service designed for that workflow or a suitable encoder path instead.
What Vimeo Livestream can—and cannot—do
Vimeo has separate features that can sound as though they fit together, but their documented limits matter. A scheduled prerecorded event is not the same thing as a continuous 24/7 stream, and Vimeo’s extended mode cannot simulcast to YouTube.
| Vimeo option | What it does | Can it provide a documented 24/7 YouTube simulcast? |
|---|---|---|
| Live-event simulcasting | Sends a live event to YouTube through an account integration or RTMP destination. Requires Vimeo Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events. | No. The feature supports event simulcasting, not the incompatible extended-stream mode. |
| Extended streaming | Streams encoder input continuously. Requires an Enterprise add-on, works only with RTMP, and disables recording and DVR. | No. Vimeo states that extended streams cannot simulcast to other destinations. |
| Prerecorded event | Plays an uploaded video as a live event, or schedules prerecorded content to start automatically through Vimeo’s web-based production tool. | Not established. Vimeo documents these as event workflows, not as continuous 24/7 YouTube simulcasting. |
Vimeo’s extended-streaming FAQ states: “No, simulcasting to other destinations is not available for extended streams.” That limitation rules out the combination in the title: Vimeo extended mode plus YouTube simulcasting.
Set up a Vimeo event that simulcasts to YouTube
If a scheduled or ordinary live event is sufficient, Vimeo’s YouTube simulcast feature can send it to YouTube. This is not a workaround for the extended-mode restriction, and the scheduled RTMP route requires a manual Go Live action in YouTube Live Control Room.

- Check your Vimeo plan. You need Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events, for YouTube simulcasting.
- Create or open the Vimeo event. In the event’s Destinations panel, choose the direct YouTube account integration and connect the YouTube account you intend to use.
- Alternatively, configure YouTube RTMP. Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key from Live Control Room, then add them as an RTMP destination in Vimeo. Treat the key as a password: do not share it or publish it.
- For scheduled RTMP events, finish the YouTube step manually. When Vimeo sends the event, open YouTube Live Control Room and click Go Live. A scheduled Vimeo event does not remove this step for that RTMP workflow.
- Preview before you rely on the event. Confirm that YouTube receives a picture and sound, then monitor the event. Do not enable Vimeo extended streaming expecting this destination to keep working; the two features are incompatible.
Play a prerecorded video as a Vimeo live event
Vimeo lets an eligible-plan owner select Stream live from an uploaded video and start an event that plays that file. A separate option schedules prerecorded content to begin automatically in Vimeo’s web-based production tool. Vimeo says the automatic-start prerecorded feature is unavailable when using external encoders.
These are useful event formats, but the documentation does not establish that they can run continuously as a 24/7 YouTube simulcast. Also, captions or subtitles uploaded with a Vimeo video are not shown during Vimeo’s video-as-live playback. If captions are essential, verify the intended viewing experience before scheduling.

Ways to keep prerecorded video running on YouTube
For a continuous YouTube channel, choose a method that explicitly supports 24/7 prerecorded playback and can keep sending video when a local operator or computer is unavailable. YouTube’s encoder guide lists cloud tools for this use, including Gyre. The sources available here do not establish Gyre’s current price, India availability, or terms, so check those directly before choosing it.

| StreamNeo | Cloud service for a YouTube channel that loops uploaded videos or playlists 24/7. | Upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, then go live. Runs in the cloud; one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps. |
| Vimeo event simulcast | Not documented as continuous 24/7 playback. | Suitable for an event workflow; plan eligibility applies, and scheduled YouTube RTMP events need a manual Go Live click in YouTube. |
| Vimeo extended streaming | Continuous encoder streaming is supported, but YouTube simulcasting is not available in this mode. | Requires an Enterprise add-on; RTMP only; recording and DVR are disabled. |
| Gyre | Listed in YouTube’s encoder guide as a cloud option for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streams. | Verify current availability in India, pricing, feature details, and terms with the provider. |
| Local encoder | YouTube supports encoder-based live streaming, but the encoder must itself be configured to send a continuous feed and handle playback or looping. | Requires a verified, eligible channel, a configured encoder, sufficient upload capacity, and monitoring while it runs. |
Configure a YouTube encoder stream
This is the general YouTube encoder path—not a claim that Vimeo extended mode can simulcast. Use an encoder or service that explicitly supports continuous playback of your prerecorded files; YouTube’s connection instructions alone do not make a video loop automatically.

- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
- Enable live streaming on the channel. The channel must be verified and free of live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until just before the planned start.
- Create or schedule a YouTube live event. In Live Control Room, create the event and retrieve its server URL and stream key. Keep the key private.
- Set up the encoder. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. Use RTMPS when supported; YouTube describes it as RTMP over TLS/SSL. Configure a supported video codec such as H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and keyframes at the recommended two-second interval, not exceeding four seconds. Use AAC or MP3 audio. Check YouTube’s current encoder requirements for the exact supported configurations before going live.
- Check the network budget. Available upload capacity should exceed the combined outgoing bitrate, with 20% headroom. This is YouTube’s recommendation, not a guaranteed speed for any Indian internet connection.
- Start sending and verify the preview. Start the encoder, confirm that Live Control Room shows the expected picture and audio, and then start the event when ready.
- Plan for continuity. Test failover and monitor audio and video. If your chosen encoder or connection stops sending, YouTube cannot make the local source continue by itself; for unattended 24/7 operation, choose a setup with a continuity and recovery plan.
Copyright, reused content, and channel eligibility
Using prerecorded material does not grant the right to broadcast it. Stream only video, music, artwork, and other material you own or are authorized to use for this purpose. A permission to upload a track or video may not necessarily cover continuous public livestreaming, so check the scope of the licence.
Copyright compliance and monetization are separate questions. Replaying content does not guarantee that a channel qualifies for monetization, and a tool that loops files does not make the material original. Review YouTube’s current copyright, live-streaming, and monetization policies for your channel and content before starting a long-running stream. No India-specific regulatory conclusion follows from the setup guidance here.

India-specific points to check
- YouTube’s encoder instructions describe channel and connection requirements, not India-specific upload speeds or Vimeo regional availability.
- Before buying a Vimeo plan or add-on, confirm that the relevant feature is available to your account and region. The feature descriptions alone do not establish India availability or local pricing.
- If comparing continuous-streaming providers, confirm current India service availability and payment options directly. Availability and commercial terms can change.
Troubleshooting
- Vimeo event does not offer YouTube simulcasting: Check that the account has Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events, and that the destination connection is configured.
- YouTube destination disappears or fails in extended mode: This is the documented incompatibility, not a key-setting issue. Disable extended streaming for a regular simulcast event, or use a different continuous YouTube workflow.
- Scheduled Vimeo RTMP event is not live on YouTube: Open YouTube Live Control Room and click Go Live for the scheduled RTMP workflow.
- Channel cannot start a live stream yet: Verify the channel and check for restrictions; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube preview has no signal: Check that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key, is sending, and uses supported settings. Recheck the key if it may have been exposed or replaced.
- Stream drops or becomes unstable: Compare the outgoing bitrate with available upload capacity, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, test failover, and monitor the actual preview and audio/video.
- Captions do not appear on a Vimeo video-as-live event: Vimeo does not show the uploaded captions or subtitles during that playback mode; verify another caption workflow if required.
