Yes. YouTube’s published limits allow up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key, with both limits applying at once. Two simultaneous streams fit those count limits if no other active streams use the available slots. That does not guarantee a particular setup will run reliably around the clock, or that YouTube will archive a continuous 24-hour broadcast as one complete VOD.
What YouTube’s stream limits allow
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance states a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both ceilings apply simultaneously. Therefore, two active gaming VOD feeds are within the documented count limits, provided other streams on the channel or using the relevant keys do not consume the remaining capacity.
The limits answer only how many streams may be active. They do not validate a particular two-encoder arrangement, promise continuous operation, or establish that restarting streams avoids other YouTube limits.
What you need before starting
- Channel eligibility: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. These requirements are separate from the active-stream caps. See YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- Permission for the content: Make sure you are entitled to broadcast the gameplay, music, and other material in each VOD. YouTube provides live-stream settings guidance that points creators to Content ID and rights-policy controls, but game-specific permissions depend on the publisher. Check the current policy for the game rather than assuming gameplay is automatically cleared.
- A plan for two feeds: Decide which encoder or playback source will produce each feed and which stream key will receive it. The stream-key ceiling is 3 active streams per key, but that is not a recommendation to send unrelated feeds through the same encoder or configuration.
- Monitoring and recovery: Be prepared to check each feed’s preview and stream health and to respond if an encoder, computer, or network connection fails. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring encoder streams in its streaming tips.
Set up two simultaneous feeds
- Confirm eligibility. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction that would prevent broadcasting. Do not try to evade an active restriction by switching to another channel; YouTube’s live-streaming guidance addresses restriction eligibility.
- Create each stream in Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions to create the live streams and obtain the server URL and stream key. Keep the intended configuration for each feed clear.
- Configure the encoders or playback sources. Enter the appropriate server URL and stream key into the encoder for each feed. YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for gameplay and advanced production; it does not prescribe a specific two-encoder topology or guarantee that particular software or hardware can sustain it for 24/7.
- Preview and test each stream. Before relying on the setup, check both feeds in Live Control Room, confirm the intended video and audio appear, and monitor stream health. YouTube recommends testing, previewing, and monitoring encoder streams in its streaming guidance.
- Start both encoders and monitor them independently. Confirm that each stream is active and stays within the channel and stream-key caps. A working preview at startup is not evidence that either feed will run without interruption indefinitely.
Plan for VOD archiving and stream restarts
YouTube’s encoder instructions state that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. They do not promise that a stream running continuously for 24 hours or longer will be preserved as one complete VOD. If a complete archive matters, verify YouTube’s current behavior and choose an archive strategy that does not depend on an unsupported assumption about continuous broadcasts.

There is also a separate limit on how many live streams a channel can create in a 24-hour period. YouTube’s live-stream error guidance confirms that such a limit exists but does not state its numeric quota in the cited passage. The active-stream cap does not answer how many times you can end and recreate streams in a day, so do not plan frequent restarts on the assumption that the two limits are interchangeable.
Choose a setup based on continuity, archives, and control
| Option | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Local encoder arrangement | You control the playback and encoder setup, but continuity depends on the equipment, software, power, and network staying available. Test and monitor both feeds. |
| StreamNeo | StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; your computer does not need to remain on. It is #1 to consider for keeping a prerecorded YouTube stream running because it runs in the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. |
| Gyre | YouTube’s encoder page lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. YouTube’s listing does not establish that the service bypasses YouTube’s limits or guarantee a particular operational fit; check current provider terms and features. |
Whatever approach you use, it does not change YouTube’s channel and stream-key caps, archive conditions, daily stream-creation limit, or rights requirements.

Troubleshooting two-stream setups
- YouTube will not accept another active feed: Check how many streams are already active on the channel and on the stream key. Both the 10-per-channel and 3-per-key caps apply. If the channel is restricted, address eligibility rather than switching channels to get around it.
- A stream will not start: Recheck the server URL and stream key in the encoder against the values shown in Live Control Room. Confirm channel eligibility and review the specific error in YouTube’s live-stream error guidance.
- The stream starts but the wrong feed appears: Check which source and key are configured in each encoder, then inspect each stream’s preview in Live Control Room before leaving it unattended.
- A feed drops or becomes unstable: Check the encoder, computer, power, and network that feed that stream, then review its stream-health status. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring encoder streams; a successful start does not guarantee ongoing continuity. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- A 24-hour broadcast is missing or incomplete in the archive: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guarantee for longer continuous streams. Confirm current platform behavior and use a separate archive plan if a complete recording is essential.
- You cannot restart as often as planned: YouTube confirms a daily stream-creation limit but the cited error page does not provide a number. Avoid assuming repeated end-and-recreate cycles are unlimited.
- Gameplay or audio receives a rights claim: Review the relevant publisher’s current streaming policy and the rights for included music or other third-party content. Check YouTube’s Content ID and live settings information at Manage live stream settings.
