Possibly—but “low-end” alone cannot tell you whether your PC will manage it. The computer must encode your chosen stream continuously, and your internet connection must sustain the upload bitrate. YouTube publishes recommended encoder settings, not a universal minimum PC specification for 24/7 streaming. Test the actual machine and connection at your intended settings before relying on them unattended.
What determines whether a low-end PC can keep streaming?
There are two separate bottlenecks: encoding and upload. The PC needs to produce the selected video and audio without persistent overload or dropped frames; the connection needs to deliver that stream steadily. A speed test is only a snapshot, so measure upload performance at the place and times the stream will run. YouTube recommends matching stream quality to the measured upload connection.
YouTube does not specify a universal minimum CPU, RAM, GPU, or power supply for this use case. A PC that handles a short test is not thereby proven to run for weeks without a thermal, software, power, or network interruption. Judge the actual machine with a representative test and monitor it while live.

Choose conservative encoder settings first
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming and recommends RTMPS for secure transmission. Its encoder guidance calls for H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and keyframes at a recommended two-second interval, not exceeding four seconds. For 240p–720p at 30 fps, YouTube lists 4 Mbps as the recommended H.264 video bitrate. That is the video encoder recommendation—not a guarantee of total network use or of a stable stream on every connection.

- Start at a resolution and frame rate the PC can encode comfortably; lower settings are a reasonable first test for an older or modest machine.
- Set the video encoder to H.264 and CBR, use a two-second keyframe interval, and do not exceed four seconds.
- Use a bitrate suited to both the chosen output and a sustained measurement of your upload connection. Leave room for connection variation and other network traffic.
- Use RTMPS where your encoder offers it. Follow the encoder’s and YouTube’s current setup guidance for entering the server URL and stream key.
For current values and encoder setup details, see YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and instructions for creating a stream with an encoder.
Set up and test the stream before depending on it
- Check channel eligibility. Live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube’s current help guidance says creators must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Configure the encoder. Choose the resolution, frame rate, bitrate, H.264, CBR, and keyframe interval described above. Add the YouTube stream key in the encoder’s stream settings; treat it like a password and do not publish or share it.
- Run a representative test. Include the podcast’s real audio and typical motion or visuals, and let it run long enough to expose instability. YouTube’s guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- Check YouTube’s stream health and the viewer page. Watch for health notices and confirm the stream appears and plays as expected. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality during the broadcast.
- Watch the PC as well. As practical checks—not YouTube-published minimum specifications—review encoder load, dropped frames, temperature, and whether the computer or network gear is losing power or connectivity.
- If recording locally, verify the file. Confirm that the local archive file continues to grow during the test and stream. YouTube includes this among its computer-streaming tips: YouTube live-streaming tips for computers.
For an India-based setup, there is no single broadband speed recommendation that applies everywhere. Test sustained upload at your own location during the hours you plan to stream; compare it with the selected encoder settings rather than relying on an advertised plan speed.

Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR limits
A single 24-hour broadcast creates tradeoffs if you need YouTube to preserve the stream or let viewers rewind. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its DVR guidance also says rewind can be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

Check rights before looping podcast material
You are responsible for having the rights needed for everything in the live stream, including music and other material from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights holders. Public availability elsewhere does not grant permission to rebroadcast. Use original or properly licensed podcast audio, music, images, and other assets, and comply with applicable law and YouTube’s Community Guidelines. YouTube says a live stream that receives a copyright strike or matches another copyrighted live broadcast can lead to live-stream restrictions. Read its livestream terms and guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions.
Troubleshoot common problems
- Stream-health warnings or dropped frames: The upload may be unstable or the selected bitrate may be too demanding. Test at a lower resolution or bitrate, measure upload again at the intended streaming time, and check whether other network use is competing for capacity.
- Encoder overload, stutter, or poor playback: The PC may not be keeping up with the chosen output. Reduce the resolution or frame rate, then repeat a representative test and monitor encoder load and dropped frames.
- Stream stops during a long session: A 24/7 plan must account for interruptions to power, software, hardware, and connectivity; a test cannot prove indefinite operation. Review the PC’s temperature and power, the network connection, and the encoder’s status before resuming.
- Archive missing or rewind unavailable: Check whether the session exceeded 12 hours. YouTube warns that longer streams may not be captured and that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
- Live access is unavailable or restricted: Verify the channel requirements and check for a live-stream restriction. Copyright strikes or matches to another copyrighted live broadcast can also lead to restrictions.
- Wi-Fi instability or brief power cuts: If testing points to Wi-Fi as the cause and your PC and router have suitable ports, Ethernet may help; it is not a YouTube requirement. Where brief power cuts are common, a UPS is another conditional option. Size it against the actual PC and router consumption and the backup duration you need; no universal capacity is established here.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a continuous YouTube stream of uploaded podcast recordings, StreamNeo is an alternative to keeping a low-end PC running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.
