No—not with a documented political-neutrality setting. Apple News lets you influence personalized recommendations by following or blocking channels and topics, and by asking for more or fewer stories like a particular one. On iPhone, you can also restrict Today to followed channels, but that removes Top Stories and Trending Stories and reduces variety. Apple says Top Stories are selected by its editors and appear the same for everyone, so they are not adjusted by your personal feed controls.
What Apple News lets you control
The Today feed combines several kinds of content: Top Stories selected by Apple News editors, stories from channels and topics you follow, Siri suggestions, trending stories, and other modules that can vary by region. The controls available to readers affect personalized recommendations and, on iPhone, whether certain sections appear. Apple does not document a control that promises political balance or neutrality.

Apple’s Style Guide says, “Experienced Apple News editors curate the day’s top stories.” It also describes Apple News as learning users’ interests as they read and suggesting relevant stories. That is a description of curation and personalization—not a statement about political balance.
How to tailor personalized stories
Follow or unfollow channels and topics
Follow publications (which Apple calls channels) and topics that you want to see more often, and unfollow ones that no longer fit your interests. Apple says followed channels and topics contribute stories to Today. See Apple’s iPhone guide to stories chosen for you and its Mac guide to channels, topics, and stories.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Block a channel or topic
On iPhone, open the channel or topic, tap the more-actions control, and choose Block Channel or Block Topic. Blocking can reduce that source’s presence in personalized parts of the feed, but it does not guarantee that every related headline disappears from Apple News.
Give feedback on an individual story
In Today on iPhone, tap the more-actions control below a headline and choose Suggest More or Suggest Less. Apple’s Mac guide also describes asking to see more or fewer stories like the one you are reading. These options guide recommendations; Apple does not say they change the editors’ Top Stories selection.

How to show only followed channels in Today on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then News.
- Turn on Restrict Stories in Today and confirm the choice if prompted.
Apple says this setting significantly reduces variety and removes Top Stories and Trending Stories. It is the closest documented way to avoid those sections in Today, but it creates a narrower feed rather than making Apple News politically neutral. Setting availability and News features can vary by device, software version, and region.

Why a blocked political source may still appear
Apple separates personalized recommendations from editor-curated groups. Its iPhone guide says Top Stories appear the same for everyone and explains that a blocked channel’s story can still appear there as a headline while the channel remains blocked elsewhere in the feed. Apple’s Mac guide likewise says blocking is unsupported in Top Stories and other editor-curated groups. In practice, blocking can reduce a source’s presence without removing every mention from every part of News.

Does Apple News meet a political-neutrality standard?
Apple’s cited documentation does not define a political-neutrality standard, publish a political-balance metric, or promise that Apple News is politically neutral. It does describe editor-selected Top Stories and personalized recommendations shaped by followed sources and reader actions. Those facts alone do not establish that the service is either politically neutral or politically biased; they show that readers can tune some parts of the feed while Apple’s editors control curated sections.
