Yes. Google Meet can livestream a meeting to YouTube for eligible accounts, or stream it to an organization audience on certain Google Workspace editions. These are separate features with different subscription, setup, and viewer-access rules, so check which audience you need to reach before scheduling.
Choose the right Google Meet livestream option
Meet offers two distinct livestream paths. A YouTube stream is suited to viewers watching on YouTube; an organization livestream is intended for people in the organizer’s organization and, when administrators allow it, trusted Workspace subdomains.

How to stream a Google Meet to YouTube
Check eligibility first
Your Meet account must have the YouTube livestream feature. The YouTube channel you plan to use must be connected to the meeting and approved for livestreaming. Google says channel approval can take up to 24 hours. YouTube separately requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Complete these checks well before the event.

Start and share the stream
- Join the meeting on a computer using the account associated with the YouTube channel. The person starting the stream needs the appropriate channel and meeting permissions. When host management is on, hosts and co-hosts may start it.
- In Meet, open Meeting tools and select Live streaming, then choose Stream with YouTube.
- Select the channel and choose an existing YouTube event or create one. Review YouTube’s terms, then start the stream.
- Copy the stream link and share it with viewers. When the event is over, return to the same panel and stop the stream.
A Meet-to-YouTube stream cannot be paused. If you need to interrupt it, stop it; you can create another stream within the same meeting. YouTube may retain an uploaded copy after the event, which the channel owner can delete.
How organization livestreaming works
This option is separate from streaming to YouTube. The Workspace administrator must enable it and may need to configure cross-domain access. For a non-adaptive meeting, viewers generally need to belong to the organizer’s organization. If cross-domain livestreaming is enabled, administrators can allow trusted Workspace subdomains. In adaptive meetings, people invited through the main event may also be able to watch.

Livestream viewers can watch but cannot turn on a camera or microphone. To participate with audio or video, they must be invited as contributors and switch into the main call.

Do you need a special camera?
No special camera is stated as a prerequisite for livestreaming. Google’s general Meet requirements call for a compatible device and a built-in or external USB camera. For Full HD video and presentations, Google lists a 1080p camera among its optimal requirements. An external USB webcam is therefore an optional quality upgrade, not a way to unlock livestream eligibility; Google does not endorse a particular model.

What analytics are available after a YouTube stream?
For Meet-to-YouTube livestreams, hosts and co-hosts can view YouTube analytics during the meeting. Afterward, Google says they receive an email containing a Google Sheets report with the stream’s start and stop times, duration, public likes, and public views.
