Yes—viewers can gift channel memberships during an eligible YouTube live stream, including a 24/7 stream, as far as YouTube’s general live-stream guidance indicates. YouTube’s help pages do not address 24/7 broadcasts separately, so they do not guarantee gifting on every such stream. The channel must have gift memberships available, and the gifting option must be accessible in live chat.
How gifting works in a live stream
A viewer buys one or more temporary memberships through the eligible channel’s live chat. On a computer, YouTube’s instructions are to sign in, join the channel’s live stream or Premiere, open Membership gifting in live chat, choose how many memberships to give, and complete the purchase. YouTube may show a countdown ticker highlighting the purchase for a limited time.
See YouTube’s instructions for gifting channel memberships on a computer. The feature applies to live streams and Premieres; a replay is not itself a live stream or Premiere with live-chat gifting.

What must be true for gifting to appear
- The channel has gifting available. YouTube’s viewer instructions direct buyers to a live stream or Premiere on a channel with gift memberships turned on. If Membership gifting is absent from chat, the channel may not have the feature available, or the current viewing context may not support it.
- The viewer can access live chat. The purchase flow starts from Membership gifting in the chat. If chat or the control is unavailable, the viewer cannot complete the gift through the described flow.
- Potential recipients have opted in. YouTube says viewers must opt in to receive gifts. Eligible recipients are subscribers to the channel who have interacted with it recently; the buyer does not choose a particular recipient.
What recipients get—and what they do not
A gifted membership provides access to the channel’s membership perks for up to one month and is non-recurring: it expires rather than automatically becoming a paid membership. Perks depend on the creator’s channel and may include badges, emoji, members-only videos, or members-only live streams. YouTube explains these benefits in its guide to using and managing channel membership benefits.

If the stream ends before gifts are announced
YouTube says purchased gifts are still distributed even if the stream or live chat ends before the gift announcement appears. Ending a long-running broadcast therefore does not, by itself, cancel distribution of gifts already purchased.
Promotional gifts are different
YouTube also describes promotional gift memberships for some channels with a membership tier below $5. These are offered by YouTube, not purchased by a viewer: they do not charge the creator or recipient and do not earn revenue. They are distributed from live chat in sets of five, availability is limited, and YouTube says they are not currently available for brand accounts. Do not confuse this promotion with a viewer buying memberships to gift.

Keeping a 24/7 channel online
Membership gifting itself is a YouTube live-chat feature; a service that keeps a broadcast running does not determine who receives gifts or make recipients eligible. For creators who want a pre-recorded video or playlist to keep looping to YouTube without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo is for uploaded video, not camera broadcasts, and streams to YouTube.
