TEAMGROUP says its T-FORCE XTREEM CKD DDR5-8800 memory can be overclocked to 9600MHz, but only on models listed in the company’s compatibility chart. That makes 9600MHz a conditional overclock—not the kit’s rated speed or a guarantee for every PC. The available launch announcement does not establish that the 9600MHz result was achieved on air cooling.
What TEAMGROUP’s 9600MHz claim means
The specific kit in the claim is TEAMGROUP’s T-FORCE XTREEM CKD: a 48GB kit made of two 24GB modules, rated DDR5-8800 with CL42 timings and 1.45V. Its black listing carries part number FFXD548G8800HC42ADC-CU01. TEAMGROUP’s product page states: “Rated Frequency: DDR5 8800 MHz can stabilize overclocking up to DDR5-9600 MHz.” The key qualification is that 9600MHz is an overclocked operating point, supported only on models in the manufacturer’s compatibility chart.
DDR5-8800 is the kit’s rated frequency. Reaching 9600MHz depends on the specific system and configuration, and TEAMGROUP cautions that the CPU’s memory controller, motherboard, BIOS, and settings affect the result. The company limits CKD/CUDIMM compatibility to Intel Core Ultra processors and Intel 800-series platforms; that broad platform requirement does not mean every compatible board or processor combination will reach 9600MHz.

Was 9600MHz actually achieved on air cooling?
The “on air” wording is not established by the cited announcement. TEAMGROUP’s December 4, 2024 launch announcement says the DDR5-8800 kit is designed for stability at an exclusive 9600MHz frequency on 2-DIMM motherboards, but the announcement text does not identify the cooling method for that 9600MHz claim.

- Precautions: 1. Before purchasing memory products, please refer to the QVL(Qualified Vendor List) compatibility list first of the motherboard. 2. The quality of the CPU memory controller (IMC) and the version from the BIOS of motherboard may both potentially affect the operating frequency of the memory.
The same announcement describes a separate T-FORCE LAB result of DDR5-10666 using an ASRock Z890 OCF motherboard, an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, and a SIREN GA360 AIO liquid cooler. That is a different frequency claim and setup; it should not be treated as evidence that 9600MHz was achieved on air.
What you need to run the kit at its overclocked profile
- Check the exact motherboard model. Confirm it appears in TEAMGROUP’s compatibility chart for the 9600MHz overclock, then check the motherboard maker’s QVL for the exact memory kit. A compatible Intel 800-series platform alone does not confirm the target speed.
- Use an eligible Intel platform. TEAMGROUP specifies Intel Core Ultra and Intel 800-series platform compatibility for CKD/CUDIMM memory.
- Enable XMP 3.0 in the BIOS. TEAMGROUP says the module runs at its SPD default frequency—such as DDR5-6400 or lower—without the overclocked XMP profile enabled.
- Check stability after enabling the profile. TEAMGROUP warns that overclock settings can cause system instability. The achieved frequency may depend on the CPU memory controller, motherboard, BIOS, and settings, so a profile or compatibility listing is not a guarantee that every individual system will be stable at 9600MHz.
How this kit compares with other DDR5-9600 options
TEAMGROUP’s launch claim is not proof that 9600MHz is unique to this kit. HotHardware’s December 4, 2024 coverage noted that Asgard and G.Skill had also announced retail DDR5-9600 kits. The useful comparisons are the rated speed versus any overclock ceiling, kit capacity and module count, timings and voltage, and whether the exact motherboard is supported—not the headline frequency alone.

The available sources do not provide controlled comparative benchmarks showing how much faster this kit is in real applications than lower-frequency memory. Frequency by itself is not enough to predict a universal performance gain.
Who should consider the XTREEM CKD kit?
This kit is a plausible option for someone building a compatible Intel Core Ultra and Intel 800-series system who wants a 48GB (2x24GB) DDR5-8800 kit and is prepared to verify the exact board support and tune for stability. Treat 9600MHz as a conditional overclock target, not a reason to assume the kit will run at that speed in an unverified system. Before buying, check the current TEAMGROUP compatibility information and motherboard QVL for the exact part number.
