Sometimes—but it depends on the app. Most streaming software is built to capture, mix, process, and record audio, not to edit a finished podcast on a timeline. OBS’s documented features cover live audio mixing, filters, and recording; Mixlr Studio describes a built-in editor for reviewing a recording’s waveform and making simple cuts or trims.
What “editing” means in a streaming app
The word can refer to different stages of production. An app may help shape audio as you record without letting you change the finished recording afterward.
- Capture and mix: Bring a microphone and other audio sources into a live production or recording, adjust their levels, and combine them.
- Process while recording: Apply effects or filters to a source as audio is captured. This can improve the sound, but it does not by itself provide a way to cut or rearrange the finished file.
- Edit after recording: Open the saved recording and change its contents—for example, by removing a section or trimming the beginning or end.
What OBS can do with podcast audio
OBS is documented as software for real-time audio and video capture, mixing, streaming, and recording. Its listed audio features include per-source noise gate, noise suppression, gain, and VST plug-in support. These features can help manage or process audio in the mixer, but the cited OBS feature materials do not document a built-in post-recording waveform or timeline editor.
In practical terms, you can use OBS to capture and mix a podcast recording, but do not assume that it can also open that finished recording for timeline edits. OBS’s official audio guide discusses interfacing with a digital audio workstation (DAW), which fits a workflow where recording or live production and post-production happen in separate tools.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What Mixlr Studio can edit after recording
Mixlr Studio describes a built-in editor that opens recordings for waveform review and supports simple cut and trim edits. Its listed editing functions also include zoom, undo and redo, and saving edits as new recordings. That makes it a documented example of streaming software with some post-recording editing, although the described functions are basic rather than evidence of a full-featured DAW.
How to choose the right workflow
Start with what you need to change and when. If you only need to capture sources, set levels, and apply processing during a session, a streaming app with the appropriate mixer features may be enough. If you need to correct or reshape the saved recording, verify that the app includes post-recording editing—or plan to use a separate audio editor or DAW.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Inputs: Check that the app can capture the microphone and any other sources you need.
- Monitoring and processing: Look for source-level monitoring, level controls, and any filters or plug-ins you require.
- Recording options: Confirm that the app records in a format and track arrangement suitable for your next step.
- Post-recording tools: Look specifically for waveform or timeline editing, cut and trim, undo, and a way to preserve the original recording.
- Export: Check how edited audio is saved or exported and whether that output fits your publishing workflow.
Do not treat a noise filter, gain control, or live mixer as proof that an app can edit a saved file. For OBS and Mixlr Studio, the documented features differ: OBS’s cited materials describe capture, mixing, filters, and recording, while Mixlr Studio describes simple in-app edits to recordings.

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos; it is not a podcast audio editor and does not go live from a camera. If your separate goal is to loop a finished video on YouTube, StreamNeo lets you upload it, add your YouTube stream key, and go live while the stream runs from the cloud. That is a distribution workflow, not a substitute for editing a podcast recording.
