No. NVIDIA lists DLSS Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50-Series GPUs, not RTX 30-Series or RTX 20-Series. The NVIDIA App override does not bypass that hardware requirement. Older RTX cards can still use other supported DLSS features, including Super Resolution.
Why you cannot enable Multi Frame Generation on RTX 30- or 20-Series
DLSS is a family of separate features, and support for one does not imply support for the others. NVIDIA’s hardware matrix lists Super Resolution for RTX 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-Series; standard Frame Generation for RTX 40- and 50-Series; and Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50-Series only. NVIDIA’s DLSS hardware matrix does not list RTX 20- or 30-Series for Multi Frame Generation.
| DLSS feature | GPU generations listed by NVIDIA |
|---|---|
| Super Resolution | RTX 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-Series |
| Frame Generation | RTX 40- and 50-Series |
| Multi Frame Generation | RTX 50-Series |
So, seeing a DLSS option in a game—or using Super Resolution on an older RTX card—does not mean Multi Frame Generation is available. It is a GPU-generation limitation, not a setting you can change in the game.

NVIDIA’s override is intended for supported titles and RTX 50-Series users. It can enable Multi Frame Generation when Frame Generation is already enabled in the game; it does not add compatibility to an RTX 20- or 30-Series card. NVIDIA places the option under Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings in the NVIDIA App. NVIDIA’s app-update announcement describes the override and its requirements.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
How to use the override on supported hardware
If you have an RTX 50-Series GPU and a game supported by the override, use this path:
- In the game’s graphics settings, turn on Frame Generation.
- Open the NVIDIA App and go to Graphics > Program Settings.
- Select the game, then find Driver Settings.
- Enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation Override.
The override applies only to supported titles and requires Frame Generation to be enabled in-game. NVIDIA App labels and supported-title coverage may change with app and driver updates.

What “up to five frames” means
NVIDIA describes Multi Frame Generation as capable of generating up to five AI frames for each traditionally rendered frame on RTX 50-Series. “Up to” is the feature’s stated maximum capability, not a guaranteed game frame rate or a promise that every game and setup will reach that result. NVIDIA’s DLSS technology page gives this feature description.

What to do with an RTX 20- or 30-Series GPU
- Use supported DLSS features: NVIDIA lists Super Resolution for both RTX 20- and 30-Series. Available options still depend on the game.
- Do not rely on a model override: NVIDIA notes that RTX 20- and 30-Series lack native FP8 support and that some newer DLSS models have a greater performance impact on those GPUs. That performance note does not enable Multi Frame Generation. NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 information discusses the model caveat.
- Upgrade only if Multi Frame Generation is specifically your goal: NVIDIA lists RTX 50-Series as the hardware generation for this feature. An upgrade is not required to keep using other DLSS functions your current card supports.
