No. A YouTube Premiere is a scheduled, shared viewing of one uploaded video; it ends when that video finishes. For continuous all-day playback, use YouTube’s separate live-stream format instead. YouTube’s documentation does not establish a maximum Premiere duration or confirm that the same video can be run in back-to-back Premieres, so neither should be treated as a workaround.
What happens during a YouTube Premiere?
A Premiere gives an uploaded video a public watch page before its scheduled start. Viewers can share the page, set reminders, and chat. At the scheduled time, a countdown leads into the video, which the audience watches together. Viewers can rewind to earlier moments during the Premiere, but cannot skip ahead to portions that have not yet played. YouTube describes Premieres as a way to build anticipation around a scheduled upload and create a shared viewing experience.

Premiere or live stream for all-day nature video?
| Question | Premiere | Scheduled live stream |
|---|---|---|
| Best suited to | A communal first viewing of one finished upload | Broadcasting media in real time, including a continuous-playback setup |
| What viewers experience | A scheduled countdown, shared playback, and chat | A broadcast session with live-stream settings; scheduled streams can appear as upcoming |
| What happens at the end | The event ends when the uploaded video finishes; the video remains as a regular upload | The stream session ends according to how the broadcast is run; YouTube’s materials cited here do not guarantee unlimited continuous playback |
| Relevant controls | Premiere scheduling, countdown, and chat | Live-stream scheduling, stream URL and key for an encoder, and DVR settings |
YouTube describes live streams as media “broadcasted in real-time on YouTube.” Its live-stream tools are separate from Premiere scheduling and include a stream key and stream URL for encoder use. See Learn about live streams and Manage live stream settings.
#1 Best Overall
Choose a Premiere if the goal is a one-time scheduled event where viewers experience a finished nature film together. Choose a scheduled live stream if the goal is a broadcast that keeps playing beyond one video’s normal Premiere lifecycle. Review YouTube’s current stream limits, archiving, and DVR behavior before describing a live broadcast as continuously available.
What YouTube’s 12-hour DVR note does—and does not—mean
YouTube says DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for live streams longer than 12 hours. This is a warning about viewers’ ability to rewind a long live stream; it is not a stated maximum duration for a Premiere and does not establish a limit for how long a live stream can run. The cited guidance does not promise unlimited playback. See Turn on DVR on live streams.
