Possibly—but running pre-recorded videos as a continuous livestream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to livestreams, including requirements for original, authentic content and rules against inauthentic or reused content. Indian creators must also apply to and be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), and their channels remain subject to review. YouTube’s published guidance does not give a blanket ruling for every 24/7 prerecorded stream, so eligibility depends on the content and YouTube’s assessment.
How YouTube’s monetization rules apply to a 24/7 prerecorded stream
YouTube explicitly says that its use of the term “video” in the channel monetization policies includes live streaming. A prerecorded video does not become exempt from those standards merely because it is broadcast as a livestream. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to the channel’s videos, including live streams.
The policy question is not simply whether a stream runs continuously. It is whether the channel’s material meets YouTube’s originality, authenticity, and reused-content standards. YouTube does not expressly say that all 24/7 streams of prerecorded videos are eligible or ineligible; the outcome depends on the channel and its review.

What kinds of prerecorded streams may create policy concerns?
YouTube expects monetized content to offer original, authentic value. Its policy identifies mass-produced or repetitive material—including content made from a template with little variation—as potentially ineligible. Repeatedly looping the same material, or broadcasting generic videos that differ very little from one another, may therefore raise concerns. This is an interpretation of YouTube’s general standards, not a specific ruling on every continuous stream.

Materially varied videos with distinct substance and viewer value can be monetizable even when they share a format. The relevant contrast is between a recognizable format that delivers meaningfully different content and a stream that mainly repeats nearly identical segments or template-driven material with little distinct value.
- Creator-owned, distinct videos: A schedule made from the creator’s own videos with meaningful differences in subject or substance may present a stronger originality case than a stream of repetitive segments. It is not an assurance of acceptance.
- Third-party clips with minimal changes: Repackaging other people’s material with little meaningful contribution can raise reused-content concerns, even if the creator has permission to use it.
- Original contribution and viewer value: Commentary, explanation, editing, or other substantial creative contribution may help make the creator’s role clear. Cosmetic changes alone do not establish that content is sufficiently original or transformed.
- Channel-wide pattern: Reviewers may consider a channel’s theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section—not only the title of the livestream.
Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate checks
Having permission to use footage or music may address a copyright issue, but it does not by itself make reused material eligible for monetization. YouTube’s reused-content review asks whether it is clear that the channel created or meaningfully transformed what viewers see. A creator should therefore assess both whether the material is cleared for use and whether the channel adds enough distinct original value for YPP. YouTube’s policy explains both reused-content and channel monetization standards.

What Indian creators need for YPP
Creators in India must apply to YPP and be accepted before earning through the program. YouTube’s general eligibility overview requires compliance with channel monetization policies and residence in a region where YPP is available; specific monetization features can have additional requirements. Meeting entry requirements is not the same as receiving approval: YouTube reviews channels before acceptance and can continue checking policy compliance afterward. YouTube’s India-region earning page currently says updated YPP terms are scheduled to begin on February 1, 2027, and asks creators to review and accept them in YouTube Studio by January 31, 2027. That future terms notice does not decide whether a particular 24/7 prerecorded stream qualifies. Check YouTube’s live guidance for current terms and feature availability.

A practical pre-application review
Before relying on a continuous stream as part of a monetized channel, review the material and the wider channel as a YouTube reviewer might:
- Inventory what plays. Identify which segments are your own, which come from other sources, and whether any third-party material is minimally changed or repeated.
- Check meaningful variation. Ask whether videos differ in substance and offer distinct viewer value, or mainly reuse the same template, segment, or presentation with little change.
- Make your contribution clear. Consider whether the channel demonstrates original creation or substantial creative, educational, or other contribution—not just permission to rebroadcast.
- Review the whole channel. Look beyond the livestream title to the theme, newest and most-viewed uploads, watch-time distribution, metadata, and About section.
- Check copyright separately. Confirm that you have the necessary rights to use music, footage, and other material, while recognizing that copyright clearance alone does not settle reused-content eligibility.
- Apply and assess the result. YPP acceptance is determined by YouTube’s review. Keep the channel compliant after acceptance because ongoing policy checks still apply.
Keep a YouTube livestream running without leaving a computer on
If you have decided to run prerecorded material as a YouTube livestream, you can operate the stream yourself using an encoder or computer that stays online, or use a cloud service that handles the continuous playback. The method that keeps the stream running does not determine whether YouTube will approve the channel for monetization.
