Not confirmed. Google’s India-specific payment guidance says recurring YouTube channel-membership plans are temporarily turned off and directs viewers to prepaid plans. It does not say whether UPI is accepted for prepaid memberships. Check the payment methods YouTube displays when you select Join; don’t assume UPI will work—or that it is ruled out.
Does a 24/7 livestream change how membership payments work?
No. A channel membership is attached to the YouTube channel and its perks, such as badges and members-only content. The stream being live around the clock does not create a separate payment rule or a one-time ticket. YouTube describes memberships as payments for channel-specific benefits, with availability and pricing that can vary by country and platform. YouTube’s billing and payment guidance explains membership billing; its India-specific notice addresses the current recurring-plan status.

What Google says about memberships in India
Google Pay’s India guidance says: “Recurring plans for channel memberships are temporarily turned off. Use prepaid plans to use this service.” That makes prepaid plans the route Google names for channel memberships in India, rather than an ordinary recurring plan.

The notice does not list the payment methods available for a prepaid membership checkout. So the available official guidance does not confirm that UPI works for that purchase. It also does not say UPI is impossible. The reliable answer for an individual viewer is the set of options displayed in YouTube during checkout.

Why UPI AutoPay does not settle the question
UPI AutoPay can support recurring payments in general. Google documents how to manage it in its AutoPay help, but that general guidance is not a list of YouTube channel-membership checkout methods. A payment system’s ability to handle recurring mandates does not prove YouTube offers it for a particular purchase.
YouTube also notes that in India a bank may not support recurring payments, and viewers may need to verify or re-enter payment details. That is useful context for recurring-payment problems, but it does not determine whether UPI appears for a prepaid membership. Google’s specific notice says recurring channel-membership plans are temporarily turned off and points to prepaid plans.

- Open the channel in YouTube. Go to the channel whose membership perks you want and select Join or its membership option.
- Review the plan shown. In India, Google’s guidance currently points viewers to prepaid plans for channel memberships.
- Continue to the payment screen and inspect the listed methods. Use UPI only if YouTube explicitly offers it for that checkout and account.
- If UPI is not listed, choose another method shown or stop the purchase. Do not infer that another Google service’s UPI support applies to this checkout.
YouTube says viewers must be at least 18 years old (19 in Korea and Algeria), be in a country or region where memberships are available, and join a participating channel. YouTube’s membership instructions cover joining, changing, and cancelling a membership. Options and prices may differ by country and platform, so the checkout for your account and location is the practical check.

This question is about joining a particular channel to get its membership perks. YouTube Premium is a separate subscription, and Super Chats or Super Stickers are separate livestream features; neither is the same purchase as a channel membership.
