Yes, in principle. An Indian creator can earn YouTube Premium revenue from live-streaming content when the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), has accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module, and a Premium subscriber watches the content. YouTube does not promise a special payout for 24/7 streams or say that continuous runtime alone generates a particular amount.
How YouTube Premium revenue works for live streams
YouTube describes Premium revenue as a share of a subscriber’s subscription fee when that subscriber watches a creator’s content. For long-form or live-streaming videos viewed on the Watch Page—or embedded using the YouTube player—the creator must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module to earn ad and Premium revenue. YouTube’s monetization guidance and module instructions include live streams; neither promises a special arrangement for streams that run continuously.
A 24/7 stream is not automatically disqualified by the fact that it runs around the clock. But runtime is not a payout formula: YouTube’s published guidance does not establish a guaranteed rupee amount, a 24/7 Premium rate, or an individual-stream calculation. Do not infer Premium income from hours live alone.

YPP requirements for Premium revenue in India
The channel must be accepted into YPP and remain compliant with YouTube’s monetization policies. For the standard tier that includes ad and Premium revenue, YouTube lists these thresholds:

- either 4,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 365 days, or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days.
Other application requirements apply, including policy compliance and an AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube reviews channels before acceptance and can continue reviewing monetized channels. See the current YPP overview and eligibility requirements.
India is included in the expanded YPP country list. Its lower entry tier can unlock certain features, such as fan funding and Shopping, but reaching the lower tier alone does not qualify a channel for ad and Premium revenue. Check YouTube’s expanded YPP overview for the distinction between tiers.
How 24/7 streams affect public watch-hour eligibility
YPP’s public watch-hour threshold is based on qualified public watch time, not simply the number of hours a stream is live. YouTube says livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD do not count toward qualified public watch hours. This rule concerns YPP eligibility accounting; it does not establish that a Premium subscriber’s live viewing cannot generate Premium revenue.

There is also an archive risk: YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but creators should not rely on an archive existing without checking. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
A cautious workflow for continuous channels
- End and restart the stream before it reaches 12 hours rather than assuming a longer broadcast will be archived.
- After each stream, confirm that YouTube created an archive and that it is public if you intend to rely on its watch time toward YPP eligibility.
- Keep a local recording as a backup. YouTube recommends retaining one because an archive is not guaranteed for streams exceeding 12 hours.
This is a prudent workflow based on YouTube’s archive and eligibility guidance, not a guarantee that every broadcast or archive will behave identically.

Repetitive content can put monetization at risk
YPP monetization policies apply to live streams. YouTube expects monetized channels to publish original, authentic content rather than material that is mass-produced, generic, or repetitive. A stream made from an unchanging loop or repeatedly recycled material can therefore create a channel-review risk. That does not mean every 24/7 stream is automatically ineligible: the relevant question is whether the channel offers original, varied content with value to viewers.
On 15 July 2025, YouTube said it was clarifying that its existing “repetitious content” policy covers repetitive or mass-produced content and renaming it “inauthentic content.” YouTube described this as a clarification, not a policy change. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies when planning a continuous format.

Premium is one of several possible live-stream revenue sources
Premium revenue is separate from live-stream advertising and viewer-funded features. Depending on eligibility and setup, YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible monetization options. Ads are not guaranteed to serve; YouTube’s systems decide whether to fill ad slots based on multiple factors. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
YouTube reported an average “over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” in a January 2024 comparison across 207 countries between channels that enabled live automatic mid-roll ads and channels that did not. This was a group comparison about in-stream ad revenue—not Premium revenue—and is not a forecast for an individual channel.
