Yes. You can watch Netflix offline by downloading eligible movies or shows in the Netflix app before you lose internet access. Open the app’s Downloads section to play them later; you must remain signed in, and downloads stay on the device used to save them.
What you need to watch Netflix offline
Offline viewing means downloading a title in advance, not streaming it without a connection. Netflix’s download guidance lists these supported device categories:
- Android phones and tablets
- iPhone and iPad
- Amazon Fire tablets
- Chromebooks with the Google Play Store installed
Install the latest Netflix app. Some older operating system versions do not support downloads. Netflix’s download guidance does not list desktop computers, TVs, game consoles, or streaming sticks as download destinations, so an app on one of those devices should not be assumed to support offline storage.

How to watch downloaded titles without internet
- Open the Netflix app on the same device you used to download the title.
- Select Downloads.
- Choose the movie or episode, then tap Play.
Downloads can be viewed from any Netflix profile on that device, but the Netflix account must remain signed in. Downloads are not transferred to your other devices.
What to check before traveling
- Title availability: Confirm the title has a download option before leaving a reliable connection.
- App and operating system: Update Netflix and check that the device’s operating system supports downloads.
- Expiration: Downloads expire after a period of time. Some titles also limit how many times they can be downloaded per year. Netflix does not give one expiry period that applies to every title, so check the specific download in the app.
- Device allowance and download count: Netflix permits up to 100 active downloads per device, subject to the device allowance in your plan.
- Account status: If the account is cancelled, downloads on the device are deleted.
If a title cannot be downloaded or has expired, Netflix points users to separate help for title availability, expiration, and download errors. The exact cause and remedy depend on the title or issue; consult the relevant Netflix download help for account- and title-specific details.

Does Download Season work on every device?
Not necessarily. In an announcement dated 29 January 2025, Netflix said it was adding a Season Download button for iPhone and iPad users; Android users already had the feature. The button downloads every episode in a season. App controls and availability can change, so download episodes individually if the season button is not shown.
