Sign in through the website’s normal login first, then try FireShot. FireShot captures content available in the browser; its documentation does not claim to obtain credentials or bypass a password prompt. Capturing a login screen is not the same as capturing the protected page.
How to capture a protected page you can access
- Open the page in your browser and sign in normally. Do this only for content you are authorized to view. Wait until the protected page itself—not a login form or error message—has loaded.
- Choose a capture scope in FireShot. Use visible-area capture for what is currently on screen, selected-area capture for a specific region, or entire-page capture when you need content beyond the viewport. FireShot describes these capture modes on its official website and usage page.
- Inspect the saved result. Check that the image or PDF contains the sections you intended to preserve. FireShot’s Chrome Web Store listing describes webpage capture and image and PDF export; available store details may change over time: FireShot listing.
What FireShot cannot do
FireShot is a capture tool, not an authentication tool. The reviewed product materials describe capturing browser webpage content, not signing in for you or defeating a site’s access controls. If the tab still shows a password prompt, FireShot has no documented way to turn that prompt into access to the protected content. Complete the site’s normal authentication first.
FireShot’s API demo also says its capture API must be explicitly enabled for security reasons: FireShot API demo. That is a separate integration detail, not a method for bypassing a website’s login.
If the capture shows only part of the page
A full-page capture is not guaranteed in every situation. A FireShot support report dated 9 August 2023 describes FireShot Pro for Chrome v1.12.18 with Edge 115 on Windows 11: the reporter said the password-protected page was not open in the browser and that only the visible portion was captured. This is one historical report, not evidence that all protected pages or current versions fail: support report.

- Confirm that the authenticated page content—not the login form or an error page—is actually loaded in the tab.
- If you need an immediate record, try the visible-area capture first; use entire-page capture only when you need content beyond the viewport.
- Review the output for missing sections. The cited report does not establish a universal cause or a guaranteed remedy for incomplete capture.
