Yes. AWS Elemental MediaLive can loop a single MP4 or TS file stored in Amazon S3 and send the resulting stream to YouTube through an RTMP output. To rotate among multiple files, use dynamic inputs and a channel schedule to switch between them; the documented capability does not establish that a multi-file schedule repeats as a playlist forever.

What MediaLive can do

  • One S3 file: MediaLive supports S3-backed MP4 and TS file inputs. AWS describes these as video-on-demand file sources, rather than live sources. Its API says a file input can be set to loop, allowing it to be streamed indefinitely. AWS input types and formats · MediaLive Channels API
  • YouTube delivery: MediaLive supports RTMP output, and AWS’s workflow wizard lists YouTube as a destination. This establishes that the workflow is supported in principle, but the AWS documentation cited here does not provide YouTube’s current ingest address or stream key. AWS output protocols and downstream systems · About the MediaLive workflow wizard
  • Several files: S3 MP4 or TS files can be configured as dynamic inputs, then selected using a channel schedule. That supports scheduled switching, not a claim that MediaLive will automatically cycle a multi-file playlist forever. AWS dynamic inputs

Loop one S3 video to YouTube

  1. Prepare the source file. Put a supported, static MP4 or TS object in S3. For an MP4 input, AWS documents the URI format as s3ssl://<bucket>/<path>/<filename>.mp4. The bucket name must not contain periods. See AWS’s MP4 input information and supported input formats.
  2. Create a MediaLive file input. Configure the input to use the S3 object. AWS supports S3 MP4 files over its secure custom protocol and S3 TS files with .ts or .m2ts extensions. File inputs are VOD sources, not live sources. AWS live and file source distinctions
  3. Set the file’s end behavior to loop. In the channel input configuration, set the source end behavior to loop. The MediaLive API describes this as looping a file input so it can be streamed indefinitely. MediaLive Channels API
  4. Configure RTMP output for YouTube. Set up a MediaLive RTMP output and use the current ingest details shown in your YouTube live workflow. AWS’s workflow wizard lists YouTube as a supported destination, but the cited AWS pages do not establish the current YouTube endpoint, stream-key handling, account eligibility, or exact wizard steps. Check YouTube Studio for the values and account requirements that apply to your channel before configuring output. AWS RTMP output support · MediaLive workflow wizard
  5. Start the channel and verify the YouTube live event. Confirm that MediaLive is sending output and that YouTube receives it. The precise setup screens and ingest values can vary with the current AWS and YouTube interfaces, so use their live configuration pages rather than assuming a fixed endpoint or key format.

Rotate among multiple S3 videos

When the goal is a sequence of different clips, configure the supported S3 files as dynamic inputs and use a MediaLive channel schedule to switch inputs. This is different from looping one file: AWS documents choosing among files by scheduled switching, but does not establish that the schedule itself repeats the full sequence indefinitely. Plan how the schedule will continue after its final action rather than assuming playlist-style cycling. AWS dynamic input setup

Troubleshooting the documented workflow

  • The S3 file will not load: Check that the object is a supported MP4 or TS file, that the input URI matches the required S3 form, and that the bucket name contains no periods. Review the format and input requirements in AWS’s supported input documentation and MP4 input details.
  • The video reaches its end instead of repeating: Check that the input is configured with file source end behavior set to loop. The documented indefinite loop behavior applies to a file input. MediaLive Channels API
  • YouTube does not receive the stream: Recheck the current ingest details in YouTube Studio and the RTMP output configuration. The AWS sources confirm RTMP output and YouTube as a wizard destination, but do not supply current YouTube ingest credentials. MediaLive workflow wizard
  • A scheduled series stops after the last clip: Scheduled switching among dynamic inputs is documented; automatic infinite repetition of a multi-file sequence is not established by that capability alone. Review the schedule’s actions and define what should happen at its end. AWS dynamic inputs

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is simply to keep uploaded videos playing on a YouTube channel, StreamNeo is a simpler alternative to managing a MediaLive workflow. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or plans and pricing, then start your free day.
