Yes. An Indian YouTube channel can run multiple live streams at the same time, subject to YouTube’s general published limits: 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply simultaneously. Scheduling several events does not bypass either cap, and YouTube’s guidance does not establish that one live event can run uninterrupted indefinitely as a 24/7 broadcast.

How many simultaneous streams can one channel run?

YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance sets two concurrent-stream limits: a channel may have up to 10 active streams, while an individual stream key may carry up to 3 active streams. The caps apply at the same time. These are platform-published limits, not performance guarantees, and the reviewed guidance does not give Indian channels a different allowance.

Count streams that are live at the same time, not just events listed in the schedule. For example, four concurrent events would fit within the channel cap, but they could not all use one key because that would exceed the per-key limit. Allocate keys so no individual key is used by more than three active streams.

Does “multiple 24/7 livestreams” mean one continuous event?

There are two separate questions: whether several events can overlap, and whether a single event can remain live without interruption for 24 hours or longer. The concurrent-stream caps answer the first. They do not establish a guaranteed maximum duration, uninterrupted 24/7 operation, or seamless restart behavior for one event.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance does not, by itself, explain how to sustain one continuous 24/7 event. If uninterrupted continuous operation is essential, verify the current event and encoder behavior in YouTube’s documentation and test your full setup rather than treating the archive rule as a continuity guarantee.

Check channel eligibility before scheduling

YouTube’s general live-streaming requirements include a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also states that streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable and test access before the intended broadcast.

Schedule and connect each live event

  1. Confirm eligibility. Verify the channel and check that it can currently live stream. Allow time for first-time activation.
  2. Create or schedule each event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and set up each event you intend to broadcast. Scheduling an event does not make it active or increase the concurrent-stream allowance.
  3. Configure the encoder for the event. Use the event’s server or stream URL and stream key in the encoder. YouTube documents reusing settings and keys, but reuse does not override the limit of three active streams per key.
  4. Plan key allocation around overlap. List which events will actually be live together, then ensure no key carries more than three active streams and the channel has no more than 10 active streams.
  5. Preview and monitor. Test that each event is accessible before going live, then monitor audio and video quality throughout the broadcast.

Plan bandwidth and encoding capacity for all feeds

The key network figure is the combined outgoing bitrate of streams sent from your location, including any backup feed. YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available as headroom. For multiple streams, apply that guidance to the total bitrate you are sending; the exact requirement depends on the bitrate of each stream and whether each feed is separately encoded or relayed.

Encoding also has to match the workload. YouTube says local encoding supports multiple simultaneous streams, but the device must have enough processing capacity for the chosen number and configuration of feeds. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; the required capacity depends on how the feeds are configured, so there is no universal hardware specification for every multi-stream setup.

Choose how to produce and distribute the streams

Approach What it does What to plan for
Local software or hardware encoder Encodes and sends streams from your own device; YouTube says local encoding supports multiple simultaneous streams. Device processing capacity and combined outgoing upload bandwidth.
Cloud relay or encoder Can distribute one feed to multiple channels, resolutions, or platforms. A feed distributed to destinations is not automatically several distinct YouTube live events. Services may have subscriptions and differing plan limits; confirm current terms and availability.
Specialized continuous-streaming service YouTube’s encoder information lists Gyre as a cloud tool for continuous streaming of prerecorded videos. That listing is not an endorsement or proof of support for a particular number of concurrent events. Confirm the provider’s current limits and availability.

Common problems and fixes

  • A fourth stream on one key will not fit: check how many active streams use that key and allocate another key if needed, while staying under the channel-wide cap.
  • The channel reaches its active-stream cap: count overlapping live events rather than scheduled events. Keep simultaneous active streams at or below 10.
  • Video or audio quality degrades: check the combined outgoing bitrate and available upload bandwidth. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and monitor the individual feeds.
  • An event is not available to start: check channel verification and live-stream eligibility, including whether a restriction applies. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • A 24/7 event ends or needs restarting: the under-12-hour archive statement does not promise seamless continuation. Confirm your event and encoder’s behavior and test the restart process in advance.
