Yes, but only if mobile broadband at the church can sustain the stream. YouTube does not guarantee that a particular carrier, plan or location in India will stay connected around the clock. Check the channel’s live-streaming eligibility, test the actual connection and equipment at the installation spot, confirm the carrier’s data terms, and run a monitored test before depending on it. For an archive, do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour YouTube broadcast: streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured.
What determines whether it will work?
The critical measure is sustained upload capacity at the church—not the download speed advertised for a mobile plan. YouTube says the stream’s total bitrate must remain below the available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% headroom. It also warns that connection disruptions can interrupt a stream. A speed test is only a snapshot; congestion, signal changes and outages can affect a long-running connection.
- Uplink: Test upload performance where the encoder or phone will actually sit, at different times of day, including busy periods.
- Stability: Check whether the signal and upload rate hold during a real stream, rather than assuming that a 5G label or peak-speed claim proves reliability.
- Data and plan terms: Estimate ongoing use and confirm the carrier permits the required volume under the plan’s quota and conditions.
- Operations: Decide who can monitor the stream and recover it after a cellular dropout, power loss or encoder problem.
- Archive and rights: Plan for replay preservation and ensure the church has the necessary rights for all included material.
YouTube’s streaming tips cover connectivity and setup. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) says its own webcast service requires dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream; that figure applies to NIC webcast arrangements, not as a YouTube minimum or a mobile-network guarantee. See NIC Webcast Services.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCheck that the channel and workflow are eligible
If streaming directly from a phone
YouTube’s current mobile guidance lists these prerequisites: at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, a verified channel, live streaming enabled, and Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements and live-streaming setup guidance before scheduling a service.

If using an encoder and fixed AV equipment
YouTube supports software and hardware encoders as well as external audio/video equipment. This type of setup is more appropriate to assess for an unattended, fixed broadcast than assuming a phone app will operate unattended around the clock. Preview the feed, monitor it during a sustained test, and make a plan for restarting or recovering it if the connection or power fails. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Estimate the mobile data before going continuous
YouTube gives about 10 MB per minute as a rule of thumb for a mobile live stream. At that estimate, use is about 600 MB per hour. Extending the same estimate across 24 hours gives about 14.4 GB per day; this is arithmetic based on YouTube’s estimate, not a separate YouTube-published daily figure or a billing guarantee. Actual use varies with stream settings and content. YouTube’s guidance is at Filming tips for live streams.
Before committing to daily streaming, compare the estimated use with the plan’s allowance and confirm the carrier’s terms for your church’s address. A suitable plan, its availability and the quality of mobile coverage cannot be inferred from a national network label or a quoted peak speed.
Test the setup at the church
- Confirm eligibility early. Verify the channel, check for restrictions, enable live streaming, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. If going live from a phone, confirm the mobile requirements.
- Choose the actual installation point. Put the phone, encoder or hotspot where it will be used. Test upload speed and signal at several times, not just once.
- Set a conservative stream quality. Choose a bitrate that leaves YouTube’s recommended 20% upload-bandwidth headroom under the conditions you observed. A connection that only just exceeds the bitrate has little margin for variation.
- Run a sustained, monitored test. Preview and monitor an unlisted stream using the intended phone or encoder, audio chain and connection. Note interruptions and whether the system recovers; a brief speed test cannot establish all-day reliability.
- Plan for data, power and recovery. Confirm the plan’s data terms, keep the streaming equipment powered, and identify who can intervene if broadband or power fails.
- Protect the replay and clear rights. Keep a local recording if the archive matters, and review rights for sermons, hymns, backing tracks and other content before broadcasting.
Will YouTube save a 24-hour livestream?
Do not count on YouTube automatically preserving one continuous 24-hour stream. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but if a live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, keep a local archive and consider ending and restarting the broadcast before the 12-hour mark. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Account for rights in sermons and worship music
The channel or church providing the stream is responsible for having the necessary rights and complying with applicable rules. That includes checking rights for hymns, backing tracks and any other music or material included in the broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions set out the platform’s obligations; they do not determine which particular permissions apply to a church’s content under Indian law. Seek appropriate advice for the church’s specific circumstances.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep uploaded sermon recordings playing on YouTube continuously, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud handles looping, so no computer, OBS or home connection has to stay on. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.
