No—not for ordinary personal setup. Apple Watch pairing and management require an iPhone; a Samsung Galaxy phone cannot replace it. If you want a watch that pairs directly with a Galaxy, consider a compatible Galaxy Watch instead.
Why an Apple Watch won’t pair with a Galaxy phone
Apple’s setup guide says an Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone, and the setup process uses the Apple Watch app on that iPhone. A Galaxy phone’s Bluetooth connection or cellular service does not substitute for the required iPhone pairing and management.
The iPhone model and software version you need depend on the Apple Watch generation and watch software. Check Apple’s Apple Watch compatibility and setup guidance for the exact watch before choosing an iPhone.

No. Apple Watch For Your Kids, also called Family Setup, is a limited option in which an iPhone owner sets up and manages an eligible watch for a family member who does not have their own iPhone. It does not let a Galaxy phone configure or manage the watch. Apple also notes that some features requiring a companion iPhone are unavailable in this arrangement.

What watch can you use with a Samsung Galaxy?
A Galaxy Watch is the direct alternative for a Galaxy phone, but requirements vary by watch generation and phone. For the Galaxy Watch8 series, Samsung’s Canada compatibility page lists Android 12 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM; it marks iOS as unsupported. Samsung cautions that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee compatibility with every device. See Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8 compatibility details and verify your specific phone and watch before buying.

Choose based on who will manage the watch
- For ordinary personal use: Pair the Apple Watch with a compatible iPhone, or choose a watch supported by your Galaxy phone.
- For a family member without an iPhone: Family Setup may work if an iPhone owner can configure and manage an eligible Apple Watch and the regional and carrier requirements are met.
- For a Galaxy Watch: Confirm the exact Galaxy phone meets that watch generation’s operating-system and hardware requirements, then check whether the features you need are supported.
