Possibly, but YouTube does not give blanket approval for every 24/7 prerecorded livestream setup. Its published guidance covers encoder-based livestreaming without expressly banning this format. A channel still needs to meet livestream eligibility requirements, stream content it has the rights to use, and follow YouTube’s rules. If the stream is made for kids, its audience setting must remain accurate and the associated feature restrictions apply.
What YouTube’s guidance does—and does not—say
YouTube lists encoder streaming as one way to go live. Its published guidance does not expressly prohibit every continuous prerecorded stream, but it also does not promise that a particular channel or broadcast will be approved. Technical ability to transmit a feed is not the same as platform approval.
Keep three issues separate: whether your channel can livestream, whether your content and broadcast comply with YouTube’s rules, and which features YouTube makes available for made-for-kids content. A stream being technically live does not remove those content or feature rules.

Creators must tell YouTube whether their content is made for kids. YouTube says creators know their content best and may override a selection in cases of error or abuse. Set the audience accurately; do not choose a different designation to retain features.

You can set an audience at the channel level, affecting existing and future content, or for an individual video or livestream. YouTube’s guidance lists live chat, live chat donations, personalized advertising, and other features as unavailable on individual made-for-kids videos or livestreams. A channel designated as made for kids also loses certain channel-wide features. See YouTube’s audience-setting guidance for the current details.
Check eligibility and content rights before going live
- Channel eligibility: YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had livestream restrictions in the past 90 days. See Get started with live streaming.
- Rules for the broadcast: Live content remains subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming.
- Rights to all material: A prerecorded loop still requires the necessary rights to both its video and audio. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance does not determine whether a particular license covers your planned use.
Plan for the 12-hour archive warning
YouTube warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” This is an archive caveat, not a stated maximum livestream duration. A feed may continue beyond 12 hours, but you should not assume YouTube will preserve a complete replay. The warning appears in Archive live streams.

If a complete recording matters, keep a local recording rather than relying on YouTube’s archive for a continuous broadcast. You could also plan shorter sessions: YouTube’s guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours are eligible for automatic archiving, while capture beyond 12 hours may fail.
Ways to run the prerecorded feed
Use an encoder workflow
YouTube lists encoder streaming among its supported ways to go live. An encoder workflow can send a prepared video feed to YouTube, but YouTube does not require dedicated hardware in the cited guidance. Choose an encoder approach that suits your setup, and confirm that you can keep it operating for the intended duration. Follow YouTube’s live setup instructions and check your channel’s eligibility before scheduling a long broadcast.

What not to assume
- Do not treat the lack of an express blanket ban as approval for your specific channel or stream.
- Do not treat 12 hours as the maximum duration of a livestream; the cited warning concerns archiving.
- Do not assume made-for-kids content will have live chat, personalized advertising, a complete replay, or a particular monetization outcome. YouTube’s guidance does not establish special monetization approval for 24/7 prerecorded streams.
