Yes. A small number of concurrent viewers does not, by itself, disqualify a YouTube channel from earning through channel memberships. The channel must qualify for and enable memberships under YouTube’s current Partner Program and membership rules, and viewers must choose to join. YouTube does not publish a minimum live-viewer count or a formula for predicting membership earnings from concurrent viewers.
Do you need a certain number of viewers for YouTube memberships?
No live concurrent-viewer minimum appears in YouTube’s listed membership eligibility rules. Eligibility instead depends on YouTube Partner Program (YPP) status, subscriber and activity thresholds, location, age, channel and content eligibility, and compliance with applicable terms and policies. See YouTube’s expanded YPP requirements and channel membership eligibility rules.
That means a channel with few people watching at any one moment may still be able to offer memberships if it meets the requirements. It does not mean approval or income is automatic: the creator must qualify, accept the applicable Commerce Product Module or Addendum, enable memberships, and offer perks. Viewers decide whether those perks are worth a recurring payment.
What are the current YouTube eligibility thresholds?
As described in YouTube Help pages accessed in 2026, the expanded YPP tier can make fan-funding features, including memberships, available in eligible countries and regions at these thresholds:
#1 Best Overall
- [Natural Audio Clarity] Operated with frequency response of 50Hz-16KHz, the podcasting XLR mic delivers balanced audio range, likely to resonate with your audience. Directional cardioid dynamic microphone corded will not exaggerate your voice, while rejects unwanted off-axis noise for vocal originality and intelligibility during your PS5 gaming streaming video recording. (Tips: Keep the top of end-addressing XLR dynamic microphone AM8 facing audio source, and suggested recording range is 2 to 6 in.)
- [XLR Connection Upgrade-Ability] To use XLR connection, connect the podcast microphone to an audio interface (or mixer) using a separate XLR cable (NOT Included) . Well-connected and smooth operation improves audio flexibility to make you explore various types of music recording singing. The streaming mic isolates the pristine and accurate sound from ambient noise with greater no interference and fidelity. (RGB and function key on mic are INACTIVE when using XLR connection.)
- [USB Connection with Handy Mute] Skip the hassle of setting something up and plug the cable to play the dynamic USB microphone directly, which suits for beginner creators or daily podcast. You can quickly control the gamer mic with tap-to-mute that is independent of computer/Macbook programs to keep privacy when live streaming. LED mute reminder helps you get rid of forgetting to cancel the mute. (RGB and function key are only available for USB connection, but NOT for XLR connection)
- [Soothing Controllable RGB] RGB ring on the desktop gaming microphone for PC, with 3 modes and more than 10 light colors collection, matches your PC gears accessories for gaming synergy even in dim room. You can control the RGB key button of the dynamic microphone USB directly for game color scheme gaming or live streaming. Configured memory function, the streaming microphone RGB no need to repeated selections after turnning off and brings itself alive when power on. (Only available for USB connection)
- [More Function Keys] Computer microphone with headphones jack upgrades your rhythm game experience and gets feedback whether the real-time voice your audience hear as expected. Get the desired level via monitoring volume control when gaming recording. Smooth mic gain knob on the PC microphone gaming has some resistance to the point, easily for audio attenuation or boost presence to less post-production audio. (Only available for USB connection)
- At least 500 subscribers.
- At least three valid public uploads in the previous 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 365 days, or 3 million valid public Shorts views in the previous 90 days.
These thresholds are not a guarantee of access. YouTube reviews channels, feature availability varies by country or region, and membership-specific rules also apply. Check the channel’s YouTube Studio → Earn tab for its current status and available features.
Memberships and ad revenue have different thresholds
The higher YPP threshold listed for Watch Page ads, Shorts Feed ads, and YouTube Premium is 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the previous 365 days or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Membership access at the expanded-YPP tier does not mean the channel also qualifies for those ad and Premium features. Requirements and availability can change, so use the Earn tab and current YPP guidance before making plans.

Membership-specific checks still apply
YouTube’s membership rules include being at least 18, living in a location where memberships are available, accepting the applicable commerce terms, and meeting channel and content requirements. Restrictions include Made for Kids channels and the SRAV music-channel exclusion. YPP acceptance and applicable policy compliance are also required. Review YouTube’s membership eligibility information for the current details.
Can a 24/7 stream build the watch hours needed to qualify?
Do not assume that every hour in an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will count toward YPP. YouTube’s YPP overview excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD) from qualified public watch hours. Its archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.

- Custom three-capsule array: This professional USB mic produces clear, powerful, broadcast-quality sound for YouTube videos, Twitch game streaming, podcasting, Zoom meetings, music recording and more
- Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples
- Four pickup patterns: Flexible cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo pickup patterns allow you to record in ways that would normally require multiple mics, for vocals, instruments and podcasts
- Onboard audio controls: Headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and mic gain put you in charge of every level of the audio recording and streaming process
- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
That creates a practical problem for a single continuous stream: if YouTube does not capture it as a usable public archive, its live hours may not become qualifying public watch hours. This is a watch-hour qualification issue, not a separate viewer-count rule for an already eligible channel accepting memberships. Check the actual archive and qualified watch-hour totals in YouTube Studio rather than estimating from the stream’s total runtime. See YouTube’s livestream archive guidance and the YPP requirements.
How much can a low-viewership stream earn from memberships?
There is no official YouTube conversion rate, expected member count, or earnings estimate for a 24/7 stream based on concurrent viewers. A low viewer count alone cannot tell you how many people will join or keep paying. Membership income depends on voluntary sign-ups and retention, which are shaped by whether viewers value the channel’s perks and community.

YouTube’s creator guidance says memberships may suit a “small, but incredibly passionate niche community.” Treat that as qualitative advice, not a promise of conversions or a revenue forecast. A steady stream may give interested viewers a place to find the channel, but it cannot guarantee that they will pay.

YouTube identifies several possible livestream revenue routes, each with its own eligibility requirements. Memberships are recurring payments for member perks; Super Chat and Super Stickers are fan-funding features; advertising and YouTube Premium revenue depend on their applicable YPP access; and Shopping or brand partnerships may suit some channels. These are options rather than assured income. Choose features that fit the content and audience, and check YouTube’s current livestream monetization guidance.
