Yes—YouTube allows eligible channels to offer memberships on live streams, and running a stream 24/7 is not itself a disqualification. But continuous streaming does not automatically qualify a channel. Memberships depend on the channel meeting YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and membership-specific requirements, passing YouTube’s review, and complying with its monetization policies.
How a 24/7 livestream relates to channel memberships
YouTube lists channel memberships as one way to earn revenue from live streams, alongside ads and Super Chat or Super Stickers. Memberships are a channel feature to enable—not a benefit that turns on automatically because a stream stays live. A 24/7 schedule is not listed as a bar to eligibility. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance explains the available revenue features.
The decision is about the channel, not simply the stream’s duration. You must meet the applicable YPP and memberships criteria, be accepted into YPP, and keep the channel compliant with monetization policies. YouTube applies those policies to live streams and to the channel overall. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Membership eligibility: the lower fan-funding threshold
YouTube’s current guidance lists this threshold for early access to fan-funding features, which include memberships:

- At least 3 public uploads in the last 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the last 365 days, or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Reaching those numbers does not guarantee acceptance. YouTube reviews the channel, and availability can depend on region and account status. Check the Earn area in YouTube Studio for your channel’s current eligibility and application status. See YouTube’s current earning requirements.
Membership-specific requirements can still block access
Meeting the numeric YPP threshold is not the only condition. YouTube’s Commerce Products guidance lists additional requirements for memberships. Among them, the creator must be at least 18, live in a country or region where memberships are available, and accept the applicable Commerce Product terms. A channel set as Made for Kids, or one with a significant number of ineligible or Made for Kids videos, may not qualify. YouTube also lists a restriction for music channels under SRAV.

Because region eligibility and account-specific availability can change, confirm the current status in YouTube Studio’s Earn area and consult YouTube’s Commerce Products monetization policies.

Memberships do not require the higher ad-revenue threshold
YouTube lists a separate, higher YPP threshold associated with ad-revenue sharing: 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Do not confuse that threshold with the lower fan-funding threshold that can provide access to memberships. The higher threshold is relevant to ad revenue, not a blanket requirement for memberships. Do 24/7 livestream watch hours count toward YPP?
They can count toward the public watch-hour threshold, but uptime alone is not enough. YouTube says public livestream watch hours count only when the stream is converted to a video on demand (VOD). Unlisted or deleted livestreams, and streams that are not converted to VOD, do not count toward that threshold. A continuously running stream therefore does not guarantee that its hours will qualify.
Before relying on livestream hours, make sure the stream is public and retained as a VOD. YouTube’s YPP eligibility overview describes which watch hours count.

What to check before enabling memberships
- Check your channel’s Earn area in YouTube Studio. Review the current eligibility status and the memberships option available to your account.
- Confirm the applicable thresholds. Check subscribers, recent public uploads, and either eligible long-form watch hours or Shorts views.
- Verify membership-specific conditions. Confirm age, country or region availability, channel audience status, content eligibility, and acceptance of the required Commerce Product terms.
- Apply to YPP and wait for review. Meeting the numbers is not approval; YouTube reviews the channel against its requirements and monetization policies.
- Set up memberships after access is granted. Enabling the feature is a separate step from keeping the livestream active. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guide describes memberships alongside the other live revenue features.
Copyright and monetization policy matter on a continuous stream
A 24/7 schedule does not exempt a channel from YouTube’s monetization policies. Review the rules for live streams and the channel as a whole before running continuous programming, especially if the stream includes music or other material you do not own or have permission to use. A stream’s being public, long-running, or eligible for memberships does not by itself establish that its content complies. Refer to YouTube’s channel monetization policies and its live-streaming guidance.
