Yes—but a 24/7 YouTube livestream with copyright-safe background music can earn money only if the channel qualifies for the relevant YouTube monetization features, enables them, and has the rights needed for the music’s live use. Streaming continuously does not guarantee ad delivery or income. A music license also needs to cover this specific use, and some licensed tracks can still interrupt a live stream if the channel has not been added to the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist.

How a 24/7 music livestream can earn money

YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible revenue sources. Each feature has its own eligibility requirements; a channel should check its status in YouTube Studio and enable the features it qualifies for.

Live ads can include pre-roll, display, and mid-roll ads. Mid-rolls may be automatic or manually placed, but YouTube does not guarantee that an ad slot will serve. A stream’s length alone therefore cannot establish what it will earn. YouTube’s guidance does not provide a defensible earnings estimate for a continuous music stream, so avoid treating a general channel RPM or a promised monthly amount as a forecast for this format. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance explains the available features and ad settings.

For Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue on live streams, creators must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. When turning on ads, YouTube also requires confirmation that the creator has rights to the audio and visual elements. See YouTube’s monetization options for the module and rights confirmation details.

What “copyright-safe” music needs to cover

For this purpose, “copyright-safe” means you have the rights required for the actual livestream—not merely that a track is advertised as “copyright-free,” or that you possess a license whose terms do not clearly cover continuous live use. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions state that requirement.

Before scheduling or starting the stream, get written confirmation from the rights holder or music service that your permission covers:

Keep the license and the track list associated with the broadcast. Rights terms vary by provider; the cited YouTube guidance does not establish that any particular library or service grants these permissions.

Why a licensed track can still interrupt the stream

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If its systems detect such material, YouTube may show a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the material remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the licensed use to proceed without that kind of interruption. Ask the licensor about the process and complete it before going live. YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams describes scanning, interruptions, allowlisting, and post-stream claims.

There is a separate archive risk: if you keep the livestream recording, a Content ID claim may arrive after the live broadcast ends. Confirm that your license covers the replay as well as the live transmission, or decide whether to disable archiving where that suits your channel.

Music options that do—and do not—fit live use

Creator Music is not for livestreams

YouTube’s Creator Music usage guidance says that tracks offered for licensing or revenue sharing may be used in long-form videos, not live streams. The cited guidance describes Creator Music as available to U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion outside the United States pending at the time stated on that page; availability and rules may change. Do not treat Creator Music as permission to soundtrack a 24/7 broadcast. Check YouTube’s Creator Music usage details for its current terms.

Evaluate any other library against the same rights questions

For a production music library, direct license, or commissioned track, verify the live, continuous-use, territory, allowlisting, and archive permissions in writing. A service’s “copyright-free” label is not a substitute for checking those terms. The YouTube sources explain the platform’s rights and Content ID risks; they do not endorse or compare music vendors.

Keep a 24/7 stream running without leaving a computer on

If you run the playlist yourself, you can use a streaming computer and software such as OBS, but that setup depends on the computer, power, internet connection, and stream remaining active. It does not change your music rights or YouTube monetization eligibility. For a cloud alternative, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. It streams uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops from the cloud, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots. The first day is free with no card; one free day is available per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo does not supply music rights, so make sure your tracks are cleared for the broadcast. Start your free StreamNeo day.
