Potentially, yes. Eligible creators in India can tag products in YouTube live streams and may earn affiliate commissions when viewers make qualifying purchases. YouTube’s published guidance does not specifically confirm how its Shopping rules apply to an uninterrupted 24/7 stream, so do not treat continuous-stream eligibility or earnings as guaranteed.
What has to be true for a creator in India to earn commissions?
India is among the countries where eligible creators can use YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program. To participate, a channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), meet the applicable YPP subscriber threshold, and satisfy YouTube’s channel and audience restrictions. Eligibility is not automatic; qualified creators can check the affiliate section in the YouTube Studio → Earn area when it is available to them. YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program eligibility guidance sets out the requirements.
- The channel cannot be a music channel, an Official Artist Channel, or associated with music partners.
- The audience cannot be set as Made for Kids, and the channel cannot have a significant number of videos set as made for kids.
- Eligibility for the program does not establish that a particular creator has been accepted or that a particular seller’s products are available to viewers.
How product tags turn into revenue
Creators enrolled in the affiliate program can tag products in live streams. Viewers can open YouTube’s Shopping control to see tagged items. For products from other brands, the products must be available through participating retailers, and YouTube displays them only where delivery and geographic availability permit. YouTube’s live-stream product-tagging guidance explains the tagging rules.
A tag is not a payment for broadcasting. A commission may be earned only when a viewer makes a qualifying purchase. The rate shown in Studio is an estimate; the applicable rate is the one in effect on the purchase date. Under the program terms, a creator may also earn a commission if a tag sends a viewer to a merchant and the viewer buys other products there. See YouTube’s commission guidance.

Use tags that genuinely fit the stream
- Feature the product prominently in the live content.
- Choose an item meaningfully related to the stream’s subject, and use it safely.
- Check that the product is available through an eligible retailer and can be shown to viewers in the relevant locations.
YouTube recommends finishing product tags at least 30 minutes before going live for the best viewer experience. Tags may also be added during a stream, but updates might not appear to some people already watching.
Disclose commissions and follow content rules
YouTube recommends telling viewers when you earn a commission and following current FTC guidance or the applicable country’s equivalent for paid endorsements. Its live affiliate guidance says: “Inform your audience that you earn a commission on purchases, but emphasize that you only recommend products you genuinely believe in.”

YouTube’s live-tagging guidance says product tags will not be shown on certain streams, including streams with claimed content, content associated with Official Artist Channels or music partners, Made for Kids content, paid content, or content considered limited or ineligible for monetization. The live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. You need the rights to the music and other content you use.
Does the 24/7 schedule change the answer?
YouTube’s published pages confirm that live streams can have product tags, but they do not specifically settle whether an uninterrupted 24-hour stream is treated differently under Shopping rules. They also do not guarantee that tags will remain visible or commissions will accrue throughout a continuous broadcast. If your plan depends on uninterrupted Shopping revenue, ask YouTube Creator Support to confirm how the rules apply to your channel and stream.

There is a separate, easily confused limitation: YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you,” and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” This is about saving a replay, not a stated ban on live product tags or commissions. A stream that is not archived may have no complete YouTube replay, even if viewers could see tags while it was live. YouTube’s archive guidance describes the capture limitation.
Own-store tags and affiliate tags are not the same
YouTube distinguishes products from a creator’s connected store from affiliate products sold by other brands. Affiliate tagging requires program eligibility and participating sellers; a connected store follows its own setup and availability. Neither kind of tag guarantees a sale. Confirm the product source and viewer availability in Studio rather than assuming a particular retailer or item can be tagged.

Keeping a stream online is separate from Shopping eligibility
YouTube’s encoder guide describes one way to send a live stream, but an encoder is optional; it is not a condition for Shopping eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming encoder guide covers that setup route.
For a YouTube channel that needs prerecorded video to keep looping while your computer is off, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It keeps the stream running from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It does not establish Shopping eligibility or guarantee product-tagging revenue; those remain subject to YouTube’s rules and qualifying purchases.

What to verify before relying on product-tagging income
- Confirm that your channel has access to the Shopping affiliate program in YouTube Studio → Earn.
- Check that the specific products are taggable and available to the locations your viewers are in.
- Make sure products are relevant and visibly featured, and that the stream avoids content that disqualifies tags.
- Do not forecast income from the Studio commission estimate alone; actual commissions depend on qualifying purchases and the rate on the purchase date.
- If the broadcast will run continuously, ask Creator Support about your specific 24/7 use case; published guidance does not resolve it.
- Plan for the possibility that a stream longer than 12 hours will not be captured as a replay.
