Potentially—but streaming reused videos 24/7 does not make them eligible for monetization. YouTube applies its reused-content rules to live streams and reviews a channel as a whole. A stream is at risk if it mainly loops or compiles material without substantial original commentary, meaningful changes, or added educational or entertainment value. Permission from the original creator alone does not meet that standard.
Even content that meets the reused-content standard must clear separate requirements: the channel must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), and Watch Page ads or YouTube Premium revenue on live streams require the relevant monetization module.
How YouTube evaluates reused videos in a live stream
YouTube’s monetization policies cover live streams as well as Shorts and long-form videos. Its policy describes reused content as material already available on YouTube or elsewhere that is republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or added educational or entertainment value. The core question is whether your contribution makes the material meaningfully different—not simply whether you can rebroadcast it.

YouTube says its reused-content policy applies to the channel as a whole. Reviewers may consider the channel’s main theme, newest and most-viewed videos, the share of watch time represented by particular content, metadata, and the About section. Those are examples, not a complete checklist. A single stream therefore does not determine the outcome by itself; the channel’s overall presentation and your role in it matter. YouTube’s channel monetization policies were updated July 15, 2025; the update renamed the former repetitious-content policy to “inauthentic content” and did not change the reused-content policy.

What may make reused material eligible
YouTube gives examples that may be eligible when the creator adds a meaningful contribution: clips used for critical review, sports replays explained by the creator, reaction videos with commentary, or edited footage with a new storyline and commentary. These examples are not a promise that a particular channel or 24/7 stream will be approved.
What can put a loop at risk
Examples YouTube identifies as potentially violating the reused-content rule include clips from a show joined with little or no narrative, collections of songs, compilations of other people’s social-media posts, and content uploaded many times by other creators. A loop that simply repeats such material does not gain originality from running continuously.
Reused content and inauthentic content are distinct policy concerns. A 24/7 loop may prompt questions about whether you have transformed the source material and whether the channel’s output is repetitive or mass-produced. The answer depends on what you broadcast and how you present it; YouTube provides no numeric threshold for a safe amount of commentary, editing, or replay.
Does permission from the video owner let you monetize?
No. Permission and monetization eligibility are separate. YouTube says reused-content review is distinct from copyright enforcement and is not decided by copyright permission or fair use. A license may help establish your right to use material, but it does not by itself show that you added enough original value to meet the reused-content policy.

The reverse is also true: satisfying the reused-content standard does not grant copyright rights or waive other platform rules. You need to address both questions independently—whether you have the rights to use the material and whether your channel contributes enough original value for monetization. Avoid treating a lack of copyright claims, a license, or a fair-use position as a guarantee of approval.
A practical test for your 24/7 stream
YouTube does not publish a formula that guarantees a reused-video stream will pass. Use these questions to assess the strength of your case; they are practical ways to apply YouTube’s stated criteria, not a substitute for its review.
- What original commentary or analysis does a viewer receive? Identify what you say or explain, and how often it adds real value rather than merely introducing the next clip.
- How meaningfully have you changed the presentation? Consider whether your visuals, narrative, editing, or educational framing make the result substantially different from the source.
- Does each part of a long loop offer distinct value? If sections are interchangeable and repeat without new context or insight, the stream may look like a compilation rather than a creator-led work.
- Can viewers and reviewers tell what you contributed? Make your role evident in the stream itself and in the channel’s wider presentation, including its metadata and About section.
- Have you handled the separate gates? Confirm that you have appropriate copyright rights, meet YouTube’s other policies, and qualify for the relevant YPP features.
Strong answers reduce uncertainty; they cannot guarantee a particular monetization decision. YouTube’s examples and policy language are qualitative, and the channel’s circumstances matter.
YPP and live-stream revenue are separate requirements
Meeting the reused-content standard does not automatically enroll a channel in YPP or switch on every revenue feature. YouTube lists advertising, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Thanks, and Shopping among its monetization features, subject to eligibility and applicable terms. See How to earn money on YouTube for the program and feature overview.

For Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue on a live stream, YouTube requires acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module. Review the current details in Choose how you want to monetize. Passing a content-policy review, qualifying for YPP, and accepting the module are separate matters; none alone guarantees a specific stream will earn revenue.

Read the notice in YouTube Studio and the linked policy reason before choosing an appeal or making changes. YouTube’s monetization-disabled help page describes appeal and reapplication options, including a 21-day appeal window in the circumstances it specifies and reapplication after 90 days following suspension. Those timelines do not necessarily apply to every notice or case, so follow the instructions and dates shown for your channel.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you decide to stream videos 24/7, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos without a computer or home connection staying on. You upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. A cloud service does not change YouTube’s reused-content, copyright, or YPP requirements; your channel still needs to meet them.
