Yes—but the audio has to change before it reaches YouTube. You can arrange for your playout or encoder to switch the audio program on a schedule while sending one continuous live stream. That is different from giving viewers several simultaneous audio tracks to choose from: YouTube’s Live Streaming API health guidance says an ingested stream must contain only one audio stream.
What “different audio tracks” can mean
There are two different setups people may mean by this question:
- Changing the program over time: The stream plays one ASMR program during the day and another at night. A source or playout workflow changes what feeds the encoder at the scheduled time, while the outgoing live stream continues with one audio stream.
- Offering simultaneous choices: Viewers select among alternate audio tracks in the YouTube player. The reviewed YouTube Live ingest documentation does not establish this as a feature for a live broadcast. Its
multipleAudioStreamshealth message says the incoming stream must contain one audio stream.
So, for a day/night schedule, plan an upstream audio change—not a YouTube player setting that automatically serves a different track by time zone or viewer preference.
Choose how the schedule should work

How to set up a continuous day/night program
The exact controls depend on your encoder and playout system. The platform-level requirement is to have your production workflow switch the source while continuing to send one audio stream to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming: the encoder sends video and audio to YouTube using the stream URL and key. You can schedule a stream in YouTube Studio and connect the encoder when it is time to go live.

- Prepare the audio programs. Organize the day and night ASMR material in the source or playout system that will feed your encoder. Set the intended schedule and time zone in that system; do not assume YouTube will change the audio based on a viewer’s local time.
- Set up one continuous YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, schedule the live stream if you want a scheduled event, then configure your encoder to send to the event using its stream URL and key. The YouTube Live API also represents continuous 24/7 broadcasting; that is conceptually different from creating a new scheduled event for every audio period.
- Configure the source-side change. Arrange for your playout or encoder workflow to feed the day program and then the night program into the same outgoing audio stream at the planned times. This is an implementation recommendation inferred from YouTube’s single-audio-stream ingest guidance, not a YouTube-documented ASMR scheduling feature. The cited platform guidance does not specify a particular automation product or set of switching controls.
- Test the handoff before relying on it. Test with audio and movement similar to the intended live stream, including the actual transition between programs. Check for silence, abrupt level changes, clipping, gaps, unintended overlap, or a change in the outgoing stream configuration. YouTube recommends testing with representative audio and movement and monitoring stream health during the event.
- Monitor the live stream. Check the encoder and YouTube stream health around a transition. If the stream drops or the incoming audio configuration becomes invalid, correct the source or encoder workflow rather than expecting YouTube to choose a different track for viewers.
Audio settings and protocol checks
Use settings appropriate to your encoder and chosen YouTube ingestion protocol. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo audio and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround sound, with recommended audio bitrates of 128 Kbps for stereo or 384 Kbps for 5.1. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that every encoder or protocol uses identical controls; confirm the settings against your encoder and the selected protocol.
YouTube also documents HLS ingestion with its own supported codecs, latency, and settings. Choosing HLS does not establish support for viewer-selectable multiple audio tracks. Check protocol-specific requirements before changing your encoder configuration.

When separate scheduled events make sense
Separate events can make sense if the day and night programs should be distinct broadcasts rather than chapters of one ongoing live session. YouTube Studio supports scheduling and promoting streams, and the encoder connects when each event is due. The trade-off is that separate events have event boundaries; they do not preserve the same continuous-broadcast experience as switching the source within one stream.
What encoder documentation does—and does not—tell you
YouTube’s encoder directory lists products with different capabilities, but a listing is not proof that a device supports this exact timed ASMR workflow. For example, the directory describes CamStreamer App as supporting continuous 24/7 and scheduled streams. It also lists AJA HELO Plus, describes optional multichannel-audio workflows, and mentions AJA PlayToStream for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. Those descriptions do not establish that HELO Plus performs the precise scheduled audio-source switching described here. A dedicated hardware encoder is not inherently required; YouTube also supports software encoders.

Troubleshooting timed audio changes
- The audio changes, but the live event ends: Check whether your workflow is switching or restarting the encoder or creating a new event instead of changing the source feeding the current stream.
- YouTube reports multiple audio streams: Check the encoder’s outgoing configuration. The ingest health guidance requires one audio stream; do not send simultaneous alternate streams on the assumption that viewers can select them.
- The transition is silent, abrupt, or too loud: Rehearse the handoff with the actual source files and encoder settings. Check levels and whether the source change introduces a gap or overlap.
- The intended day/night time is wrong: Verify the time zone and schedule in the source or playout workflow. YouTube does not document automatic track selection based on a viewer’s local time for this use case.
- Audio settings differ after choosing HLS: Review the requirements for the selected ingestion protocol and confirm compatible codecs and settings in the encoder. HLS is a protocol choice, not a way to add viewer-selectable live tracks.
