Yes—but only if your channel qualifies for YouTube Partner Program (YPP) Watch Page Ads, you accept the Watch Page Monetization Module, and you turn monetization on for the livestream. A 24/7 schedule does not create eligibility or guarantee earnings: YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.
What a channel needs to earn ad revenue from a livestream
For Watch Page Ads on a livestream, the relevant YPP threshold is the higher ad-revenue tier: 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 valid public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 365 days or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s feature availability and requirements can vary by country or region and may change. See YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility.
Meeting the numbers is not the only requirement. YouTube also requires, among other things, that the channel comply with its monetization policies, be in a YPP-available region, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, have 2-Step Verification and advanced features access enabled, and have an AdSense for YouTube account linked or ready to set up. YouTube reviews the channel as a whole after you apply.
Accept the right monetization terms
To earn ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live content viewed on YouTube’s Watch Page, accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Then enable monetization for the eligible livestream. Turning ads on does not guarantee that YouTube will show an ad, and ads appearing on a channel do not by themselves mean the creator is eligible for a revenue share.
Keep the replay if you want stream hours to count
Some livestream watch hours can contribute to YPP eligibility, but YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand from qualified watch hours. If you want eligible hours from an aquarium stream to help toward the threshold, leave the stream public and retain or convert its replay.

Will YouTube put ads on an aquarium livestream?
It may. For a monetized livestream, YouTube says pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled. Mid-roll ads can be automatic, scheduled, or inserted manually. YouTube’s ad systems decide whether a particular slot serves an ad; they balance viewer experience, creator earnings, and advertiser values. A continuous stream therefore does not mean every viewer sees an ad or that ads appear at every opportunity.
YouTube reports an average over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour for channels that enabled automatic live mid-rolls compared with channels that did not. This is YouTube’s comparison across 207 countries in January 2024—not an aquarium-specific result, not a forecast for your channel, and not an earnings guarantee. Choosing a mid-roll approach

For a calm aquarium feed, the choice is a balance between potential ad opportunities and interruptions to the viewing experience. An externally embedded livestream with autoplay has ads turned off, according to YouTube’s live monetization guidance; do not assume an autoplay embed earns ads in the same way as viewing the stream on YouTube.
Does a repetitive aquarium feed meet monetization policy?
There is no blanket published ruling that every fixed-camera aquarium stream is eligible or ineligible. YouTube requires monetized content to be original and authentic; highly repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. A quiet, largely unchanged feed may raise a policy question, but the answer depends on the channel and how its content is made and presented.

YouTube says reviewers may assess the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section. Review the YouTube channel monetization policies and make the channel’s original contribution clear. Do not assume that adding a title, description, or continuous runtime alone resolves an originality concern.
Other live revenue is separate from ad revenue
YouTube also lists channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers as possible live-stream revenue features, subject to their own eligibility and setup requirements. These are supplementary creator features, not ad revenue, and they are not automatic consequences of running a 24/7 stream.
