If your CameraFi Live YouTube stream shows a prerecorded video but has no sound, check the video and audio sources separately. Open CameraFi Live’s Video menu to confirm the clip is active, then open Audio and make sure the intended audio source is enabled and audible. CameraFi treats these as separate source paths; seeing the video does not confirm its soundtrack is reaching the stream.
Check the video and audio sources first
- Open Video in CameraFi Live and confirm the prerecorded clip is added and active. CameraFi’s Android guide documents video files as video sources. Its FAQ also describes adding prerecorded video as an overlay. CameraFi Live Android guide · CameraFi Live FAQ
- Open Audio and check that the intended source is selected or enabled and that its level is not muted or turned down. CameraFi lists recording files as audio sources in its Android guide.
- Test the stream privately or as unlisted before relying on it live. Listen to the stream from another device or browser, rather than judging only by what you hear locally.
If the video is visible but its soundtrack is still missing, the clip’s audio may not be reaching the stream through the video source. If you have an authorized audio file for the soundtrack, add it separately through CameraFi’s Audio source workflow and test again. CameraFi documents adding audio files such as MP3 and mixing them with microphone input; behavior may vary by file and app version. CameraFi Live Android guide
Identify how the clip is being played
The right fix depends on whether CameraFi is using an imported video source or capturing playback from another app. These are different audio routes.
Clip added as a CameraFi video source
Confirm that the clip is active under Video and check Audio separately. If its audio does not appear in the stream, try adding a rights-cleared copy of the soundtrack as an audio source. This is a workaround, not a guarantee for every format or version.

Clip playing in another app through screen capture
For Android internal audio capture, CameraFi’s support guidance says the device must run Android 10 or later, and the app being captured must allow third-party audio recording. If that app blocks capture, CameraFi cannot obtain its internal sound through this route. CameraFi internal audio support
Also check whether another app or feature is taking control of audio. CameraFi’s FAQ describes a game voice-chat case in which the game takes control and CameraFi is left without sound. That example is specific to games, but it is a reason to test competing audio paths when the clip is playing in another app—not evidence that all imported video clips have the same problem. If you are broadcasting an iPhone screen
For an iOS screen broadcast, check CameraFi’s in-app audio controls. CameraFi’s May 2026 guide says you can enable the microphone from iOS Control Center after broadcasting starts. This guidance concerns screen broadcasts; it does not establish how every imported video file routes audio on iOS. CameraFi iOS screen broadcast guide

Use Audio Sync only when sound is present but out of time
If you can hear the audio in the stream but it arrives too early or too late relative to the picture, use CameraFi’s Audio Sync adjustment where it is supported, including for YouTube. Sync changes timing; it cannot restore a muted, absent or unselected source. CameraFi also warns that using sync on YouTube may affect the saved broadcast recording. CameraFi Audio Sync guide

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.

- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you observe | Likely place to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Video is visible, but the stream is silent | CameraFi’s separate Video and Audio sources | Verify the clip is active in Video, then enable and raise the intended source in Audio. If needed, test an authorized separate soundtrack file. |
| Clip plays in another app, but its sound is absent from the stream | Android internal audio capture and the source app’s permissions | Confirm Android 10 or later and that the app permits third-party audio recording. If it does not, use a supported source route instead. |
| Sound disappears when another audio feature is enabled | Competing audio control or capture paths | Turn off the competing feature for a test and check the stream again. CameraFi’s documented example involves game voice chat. |
| Sound is audible but does not match the picture | Audio/video synchronization | Adjust Audio Sync if available for your destination, then check the saved YouTube recording as well. |
| iPhone screen broadcast has no expected audio | CameraFi’s in-app controls and iOS Control Center | Check the controls described in CameraFi’s iOS screen-broadcast guide; imported-file routing may differ. |
Use only audio you have the right to stream
Before adding a separate soundtrack or broadcasting a clip, make sure you own the content or have permission to use it. CameraFi’s FAQ warns that streaming someone else’s content can cause copyright trouble. CameraFi Live FAQ
