Cambio and agentic wallets solve different transaction problems. Cambio describes a conversational service for swapping assets through a one-time deposit address; an agentic wallet lets software carry out transactions using authority granted over a wallet. The practical choice depends on where your funds are and whether you need a single transfer between contexts or wallet-based, potentially multi-step actions.
What an agentic wallet actually is
An agentic wallet combines a cryptocurrency wallet with software—an agent—that can execute transactions within permissions the user grants. In Cambio’s description, possible designs include limited-scope session keys with an expiry, key-protection approaches such as multiparty computation (MPC) or trusted execution environments, and agents that run on a remote server, an MCP server, or an extension. These are examples, not a universal specification: implementations differ.
The central distinction is authority. An agentic wallet is designed to let an agent act on wallet-held assets within some authorized scope. Cambio says its own AI parses and explains a swap request, while deterministic code selects and routes the swap; it says the AI does not connect to or sign with the user’s wallet. Those are Cambio’s descriptions, not independently verified implementation findings.
How the two workflows differ
| Question | Cambio’s described flow | Agentic-wallet model described in the sources |
|---|---|---|
| What is it for? | A single swap or moving assets between contexts, such as after an exchange withdrawal or when changing chains, according to Cambio. | Wallet-resident actions, including multi-step operations, subject to the wallet and agent’s actual capabilities. |
| Where do funds start? | Wherever the user holds them; the user sends crypto to a one-time deposit address. | In a wallet whose transactions the user authorizes the agent to execute. |
| Does the flow use the user’s wallet connection or signature? | Cambio says its described flow requires neither a wallet connection nor a wallet signature. | The agent executes transactions under permissions granted through the wallet design. |
| What does the AI do? | Cambio says AI interprets and explains the request, while deterministic code routes the swap. | The agent can carry out actions within the scope it has been given. |
| What is the main trust focus? | The operator and settlement process during the swap. | The wallet implementation, agent provider, permission scope, and safeguards such as expiry and revocation. |
| What should you verify? | Supported assets and chains, quote details, and settlement terms. | Key control, permission boundaries, expiry, transaction visibility, revocation, and wallet-security documentation. |
This comparison reflects the cited descriptions; it is not a product test or a complete feature matrix for every service. Cambio describes a sequence in which a user expresses an intent, the service extracts structured details, checks whether a pair is supported, presents a quote, and provides a one-time deposit address. The user sends funds and supplies a destination address for the received asset. Check current product documentation for the exact supported assets, chains, quote terms, and settlement process.

When should you use an agentic wallet instead of a conversational swap service?
Choose by the job and location of the funds
- Consider an agentic wallet when assets are already in a wallet and the task calls for wallet-based or multi-step operations. Confirm that the specific wallet and agent support the protocols and actions you need.
- Consider Cambio’s described flow when the task is a swap that moves assets between contexts and you are comfortable sending funds to a one-time deposit address under the service’s settlement terms.
Decide what authority you are willing to grant
A wallet agent’s usefulness depends partly on what it can do, but so does its risk. Before authorizing one, establish which assets and actions its permissions cover, whether those permissions expire, how you can monitor activity, and how to revoke access. A label such as “agentic wallet” does not establish that a product has narrow permissions or supports every requested action.
With Cambio’s described flow, the trust question is different rather than absent: the company says users rely on its operator during settlement, while avoiding a wallet connection and session keys. Cambio also describes its service as non-custodial and says it does not offer wallet accounts, fiat on-ramps or off-ramps, lending, staking, or yield-bearing products. These are the company’s claims, not an independent audit.

What to check before trusting either design
For a deposit-address swap
- Confirm that the asset pair and chains are currently supported.
- Review the quote, destination address, and settlement terms before sending funds.
- Understand what happens if the amount, asset, or network sent does not match the instructions, and how failed or delayed settlements are handled.
- Consider whether you are comfortable relying on the operator while settlement is in progress.
For an agentic wallet
- Read the wallet’s security documentation and identify how keys are controlled or protected.
- Check the exact transaction permissions, limits, and expiry—not just a general description of the agent’s capabilities.
- Find out how transactions are displayed, monitored, and revoked, and what happens if an operation fails.
- Assess the wallet implementation and agent provider separately; both contribute to the trust model.
Binance Support warns that automated, AI-driven decisions can lead to unintended transactions, errors, or losses within permissions users have granted. That warning is a reason to scrutinize authorization and recovery controls, not proof that every agentic wallet behaves the same way. MetaMask likewise describes agent-wallet designs as varied and frames a key design goal as allowing software to interact with assets without unlimited authority; that principle does not establish how well any particular product implements it.

Are Cambio or agentic wallets categorically safer?
The available descriptions do not establish that either model is universally safer. Cambio’s account emphasizes avoiding wallet connections and session keys, while acknowledging reliance on its operator during settlement. An agentic-wallet setup introduces questions about wallet security, the agent provider, granted permissions, and permission controls. Which risks matter most depends on the implementation and the task; neither category label is a substitute for checking current documentation.
