Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBuild the marketplace around a clear boundary: PostgreSQL stores durable business records, Laravel coordinates related writes and serves application data, and React manages the interface state needed to display and change that data. When the UI shows the wrong value, inspect the component and trace who owns that state before assuming the database is at fault.
How should Laravel, PostgreSQL, and React divide marketplace state?
Use the server side for records the marketplace must retain and coordinate, such as orders and their line items. Use React state for interface concerns such as an open dialog, a current selection, or a temporary filter. Some user choices may eventually need persistence; decide that from the product requirements rather than treating every piece of UI state as a database record.
Laravel 13.x lists PostgreSQL among its supported database systems and offers raw SQL, the query builder, and Eloquent for database interaction. Those capabilities do not prescribe a marketplace schema: define entities and relationships around the actual business rules. Laravel’s database documentation describes its database support and interaction options.
A React state update is not a database write, and a database commit is not proof that every component is displaying the latest value. Keep the two responsibilities explicit: Laravel handles durable application operations, while React renders the current UI state and responds to server results.

How do you keep related marketplace writes together?
Use a transaction for one application operation
When multiple database changes must succeed or fail as a unit, put them in a Laravel transaction. For example, creating an order and its associated line items may be one operation; the specific records and rules depend on your application.
DB::transaction(function () {
// Perform the related database writes for this operation.
});
Laravel commits when the transaction closure completes successfully. If an exception escapes the closure, Laravel rolls back the work and rethrows the exception. The transaction API can also retry after a deadlock when retry attempts are configured. Because a retry may run the closure again, avoid casually placing non-database side effects—such as calling a remote service—inside a retryable transaction. See Laravel’s transaction documentation.

Scope read-after-write expectations correctly
Laravel’s optional sticky database setting routes later reads to the write connection after a write during the same request cycle. That can help when a request writes a record and then immediately reads it, but it is not a general guarantee across separate requests. Check the application’s connection configuration and deployment setup before relying on it. Laravel documents sticky reads and database connections.
Account for transaction-mode pooling during maintenance
If the PostgreSQL host uses transaction-mode pooling, separate ordinary application queries from operational tasks. Laravel’s current database documentation notes that some schema operations, migrations, and maintenance commands require a direct database connection, and describes pooled and direct connection configuration. Whether this applies depends on the provider and its configuration; do not assume every PostgreSQL deployment uses transaction-mode pooling. Laravel’s db:show and db:table tools can help inspect the configured database and tables. See Laravel’s database documentation and its database and migrations documentation.

Start at the component that displays the incorrect text, selection, or status. React Developer Tools lets you inspect components, props, and state; its Components and Profiler panels are useful starting points. Then trace the displayed value back to the component or parent that owns it. React’s Developer Tools guide explains the available inspection tools.

- Inspect the rendered component. In React Developer Tools, select the component showing the wrong value and check its current props and state.
- Trace the value to its owner. Find where that state is declared and which handler or prop supplies the displayed value.
- Check the render snapshot. A state setter requests another render; it does not change the state variable already captured by the current handler. A timeout or promise callback created by that handler can therefore see the value from the render in which the handler was created. React’s state snapshot explanation covers this behavior.
- Check for mutation. Props and state should be treated as immutable snapshots. Look for code that changes an object or array in place instead of passing a new value through a setter or prop. See React’s rules for pure components and Hooks.
- Look for duplicated state. If a selected record is stored alongside its identifier and source list, or a total is stored separately from the values it depends on, the copies can disagree. Where appropriate, keep the minimal source value and derive the display value. React’s state-structure guidance explains how to avoid redundant state.
Should React state stay local or be shared?
Keep a value local when one component owns and uses it. If sibling components must coordinate the same choice, move that piece of state to their closest common parent and pass the value and event handlers to the children. This creates one owner for that shared UI state without requiring every application value to live at the top level. React’s guide to sharing state describes this pattern.
| Choice | Fits when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Local state | One component needs the value and can manage it independently. | Separate local copies will not automatically coordinate if multiple components need to reflect one shared choice. |
| State in the closest common parent | Two or more related components need to display or change the same value. | Lift only the state that must be shared; unrelated state can remain local. |
Prefer storing a selected identifier rather than a duplicate selected object when the object can be found from existing data. Likewise, derive values such as totals from their inputs when practical instead of maintaining another state value that can fall out of sync. The right structure depends on the component and data flow, not on a rule that all state belongs in one global location.

How do you tell a React display problem from a database problem?
Use the displayed value’s path to narrow the fault. If the component’s props already contain an unexpected value, follow the data flow upstream toward the server response or its owner. If the props are correct but the component’s local state is not, inspect its state updates, render snapshots, mutations, and duplicate values. If the server response itself is wrong after a write, inspect the Laravel operation, transaction boundary, and connection behavior rather than trying to repair the display with another React state copy.
This distinction is especially useful after creating a record: a client-side update may make the interface appear current without proving that a durable write succeeded, while a successful write does not by itself coordinate separate component state. Treat server responses and UI state as separate parts of the flow and debug the one that first diverges.

Which marketplace decisions remain application-specific?
Laravel and React documentation explain framework behavior, not the marketplace’s commercial or legal model. Requirements for payment processing, seller payouts, inventory reservations, shipping, taxes, dispute handling, and launch jurisdictions must be decided for the particular product and markets. Do not infer those policies from the choice of Laravel, PostgreSQL, or React.
