What the Brother MFC-J4335DW does
This color inkjet multifunction printer handles printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. It includes an automatic document feeder (ADF) for feeding multi-page originals and automatic two-sided printing. Brother UK lists a 20-sheet ADF, a 150-sheet main paper tray, and a one-sheet manual feed. Those capacities are useful for everyday documents, but the main tray may need frequent reloading in a busy office.
Brother UK rates one-sided A4 printing at 20 images per minute in monochrome and 19 images per minute in color. These are manufacturer-rated speeds, not a promise of the throughput you will see with every file, paper type, or print setting. Brother’s US specifications also list a 150-sheet tray, 20-sheet ADF, and automatic two-sided printing; some US specifications are grouped across neighboring models, so verify the MFC-J4335DW-specific entry when checking other features.
How it performs for documents, scans, and photos
Document printing
RTINGS’ review, updated September 25, 2026 to Test Bench 1.4.1, describes clear, detailed document output, fast document printing, high page yields, and relatively low cost per print. RTINGS says the test scores were unaffected by the update. These are independent test findings, not results from hands-on testing by this publication.

Scanning and the ADF
RTINGS reports strong scan quality, and the ADF can make multi-page scanning more convenient than placing each page on the glass. The important limitation is that the ADF does not scan both sides automatically. If you often digitize double-sided originals, expect to handle the pages manually or compare models with duplex scanning.
Photo output
Photo prints are acceptable for casual home use, but RTINGS reports graininess and limited color accuracy compared with photo-oriented alternatives. Choose a photo-focused printer if accurate color and polished photo output matter more than document handling.

Ink yield and ongoing ownership
Brother Canada lists its LC406BKS black standard-yield INKvestment Tank cartridge as compatible with the MFC-J4335DW and gives an approximate yield of up to 3,000 pages. Brother says the figure follows ISO/IEC 24711; actual yield varies with page content and use. Treat it as a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed page count.
RTINGS characterizes the printer’s yields as high and its cost per print as low, but actual running costs depend on local ink prices and how much you print. Compare the printer’s purchase price and replacement-cartridge prices in your country rather than relying on a universal cost-per-page figure.

Brother Canada marks the model as eligible for its optional Refresh EZ Print subscription. The cited product information does not establish identical availability or terms in every country, so check the local Brother site before deciding whether it suits you.
Limitations to weigh before buying
- Small paper supply: the 150-sheet main tray can mean more frequent reloading than a higher-capacity office printer.
- No automatic duplex scanning: the ADF does not capture both sides of a page in one pass.
- Idle-period clog risk: RTINGS warns that the printer can clog if left unused for extended periods.
- Printhead serviceability: RTINGS notes that the printheads are not user-replaceable.
- Not for demanding photo work: its reported graininess and limited color accuracy make it a weaker choice for photo-first users.
Who should choose the MFC-J4335DW?
Consider it if you print a steady stream of school, household, or work documents; need scanning and copying; value an ADF; and may occasionally use fax. Its ink yield and document performance are appealing when the printer sees regular use.

Look elsewhere if you print only a few times a year, need automatic two-sided scanning, want stronger photo color, or need a large paper tray. For a comparison with the Epson EcoTank ET-2980, RTINGS reports that the Brother offers clearer scans and an ADF, while the Epson is more economical to run. That is a test-specific comparison: check the exact competing model and current local ink prices before choosing.

The Brother MFC-J4335DW is a well-rounded document all-in-one for regular home or light small-office use, especially when scanning and an ADF matter. Its appeal weakens for infrequent printing, large-volume paper handling, duplex scanning, or photo work. Before buying, compare the local price of the printer and LC406 replacement ink, and confirm any subscription terms in your country.
