What is Broadcom Jericho2?
“B’com” appears to mean Broadcom. Jericho2, also identified as BCM88690, is part of Broadcom’s StrataDNX switch-router family. It is a component that OEMs integrate into networking systems; it is not a standalone router or a plug-in upgrade for a consumer PC.
Broadcom positions the device for carrier Ethernet, edge and core routing, data-center cloud, and enterprise campus equipment. Its product description highlights programmable packet processing, a scalable multi-terabit fabric, hierarchical traffic management, packet-buffer memory, and interfaces up to 400GbE. What does 2.5D HBM integration mean?
Broadcom calls Jericho2’s packaging “2.5D HBM integration.” In practical terms, high-bandwidth memory (HBM) is integrated with the processor in the package and used for packet buffering. That is a packaging-level integration, rather than a claim that the memory is simply external to the processor package. The public material cited here does not show a package cross-section or specify the interposer material, number or exact placement of memory dies, or physical layer arrangement. “2.5D” therefore supports a high-level description of package integration, not a detailed assembly diagram.
How much bandwidth and packet storage does Jericho2 support?
Broadcom’s 2019 production announcement specifies up to 10 Tb/s of switching and routing capacity for a Jericho2 device. The vendor’s launch material lists interfaces up to 400GbE, while the 2019 announcement also cites 50 Gb/s PAM-4 SerDes. Buffering differs across the announced product options. Broadcom described all-on-chip VoQ, single-HBM, and dual-HBM options, with up to 8 GB of packet storage across the Jericho2 series. That 8 GB figure is a family-level maximum, not a guarantee for every Jericho2 configuration. The announcement also spans products from 320 Gb/s to 10 Tb/s, so a specific model’s capacity and features should not be inferred from the family maximum.
Where is Jericho2 used?
Broadcom identifies Jericho2 for carrier and cloud networking equipment. The company’s examples include core switches, buffered spines and super-spines, border routers, regional gateways, backbones, content delivery networks, and data-center interconnects. These describe potential system contexts, not evidence that every Jericho2 variant is used in each one.

In those systems, the relevant design considerations can include port rates, packet-buffer behavior, traffic management, programmability, and the fabric connection. Jericho2 is intended to be selected and integrated by network-equipment vendors around the needs of a particular system.
Why do Jericho2 variants need to be distinguished?
Jericho2 is part of a broader family rather than a single configuration with uniform capacity and features. Broadcom’s 2019 announcement specifies Jericho2 at up to 10 Tb/s and Jericho2c at up to 5 Tb/s, while also naming Qumran2c and Qumran2a as family members with distinct capabilities. The announcement describes different interface and feature profiles across variants.

What public information does—and does not—show
Broadcom’s published material supports a clear high-level account: Jericho2 is a networking SoC with HBM integrated in a 2.5D package approach to support packet buffering. It does not, in the cited pages, establish a detailed die-stack or interposer layout. The performance and capacity figures above are vendor announcements from 2018 and 2019, not independent test findings or a statement of current availability.
