How the teams arrive at the opener
The FOX Sports/Associated Press game-day preview lists Milwaukee’s regular-season record as 103–59 and San Diego’s as 91–71. The Brewers’ October 1 postseason FAQ says Milwaukee recorded the first 100-win season in franchise history and earned the top overall seed. The clubs have not met in the postseason before; both franchises began play in 1969.
San Diego won four of the six regular-season games between the clubs, according to MLB’s October 2 matchup preview. Milwaukee took two of three at home in May, while the Padres swept three games at Petco Park in August. Those results provide a snapshot of the regular-season matchup, not a forecast for a short postseason series.

What could decide the series?
Starting pitching and early scoring
The FOX Sports/Associated Press preview lists Robbie Ray against Jacob Misiorowski as the Game 1 pitching matchup. MLB’s series preview also highlights Milwaukee starters Misiorowski and Logan Henderson. In a best-of-five series, strong starts and early runs can shape how quickly each manager needs to use the bullpen.

Bullpen leverage
MLB’s preview points to Milwaukee’s bullpen and San Diego’s relief corps, led by Mason Miller. How each group handles high-leverage innings could matter as the series moves between Milwaukee and San Diego.
Fernando Tatis Jr.’s recent form
MLB reported that Tatis posted a 1.066 OPS and hit eight home runs in the final month of the regular season. He also opened San Diego’s Wild Card sweep with a leadoff homer in Game 1. The OPS and home-run figures describe that final-month stretch, not his full-season totals.
Going to American Family Field?
The Brewers-hosted event announcement says gates open 2.5 hours before first pitch and parking lots open 3.5 hours beforehand. It advises fans to buy prepaid parking because day-of-game parking is limited. Those details apply to the Brewers’ home games and are subject to change; check current team event information before heading to the ballpark. The announcement was republished by Milwaukee Record.
