BreachRx announced a $15 million Series A on May 19, 2025, led by Ballistic Ventures, with SYN Ventures, Overline, and Silver Buckshot Ventures also participating. The company said the oversubscribed round brought its total funding to more than $23 million. It plans to use the proceeds to expand its go-to-market and engineering teams.

Who invested in BreachRx’s Series A?

Ballistic Ventures led the $15 million round, which BreachRx described as oversubscribed. SYN Ventures, Overline, and Silver Buckshot Ventures participated. BreachRx said the financing brought total funding to more than $23 million; the announcement did not state a valuation or ownership dilution. BreachRx’s May 19, 2025 announcement also said Ballistic general partner and former Mandiant CEO Kevin Mandia would join the company’s board, while Nicole Perlroth, a former New York Times lead cybersecurity reporter, would become a board observer.

Ballistic framed its investment around the challenge of getting legal, security, IT, communications, and executive teams to coordinate when each may be working from separate or outdated playbooks. That is the lead investor’s rationale for backing the company, not evidence that the software has independently demonstrated better incident outcomes. Ballistic’s investment explanation describes that thesis.

What does BreachRx plan to do with the funding?

CEO and co-founder Andy Lunsford said the company planned to scale its go-to-market and engineering teams to accelerate adoption and innovation. The announcement describes an intended use of the financing; it does not establish that hiring was completed or specify how much capital was allocated to either function.

What does the Rex Platform do?

BreachRx currently describes its product as the Rex Platform, an enterprise command center for coordinating organizational work around a cyber incident. Its product materials list a structured workflow engine, an enterprise system of record, continuous evidence capture, privileged communications, embedded regulatory intelligence, and Rex AI. The company says it supports preparation, live response, readiness exercises, and regulatory deadlines. These are vendor descriptions of the platform’s design and capabilities. BreachRx’s Rex Platform page provides its current positioning.

The practical distinction BreachRx draws is the scope of coordination:

  • SIEM and SOAR: In the company’s framing, these tools primarily support security teams with technical detection, investigation, and automated response.
  • ITSM: These tools manage technical service workflows and tickets.
  • Rex: BreachRx positions its platform as coordinating cross-functional responsibilities and records when a cyber incident also becomes a broader business event—such as assigning owners, capturing decisions and evidence, managing approvals and communications, and tracking obligations.

This is BreachRx’s account of how the categories fit together, not an independent head-to-head product comparison. The company’s May 2025 announcement also described a secure central workspace, real-time collaboration, defined roles and timelines, tailored playbooks, and reporting for boards, auditors, and regulators.

What traction did BreachRx report?

As of its May 19, 2025 announcement, BreachRx said it had more than 100 customers, including publicly traded and Fortune 500 companies in financial services, technology, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. It also reported more than 3x year-over-year annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth for the second consecutive year. Those customer and growth figures are company-reported; the announcement did not provide audited revenue or independently verified metrics.

What the funding announcement does—and does not—establish

The round shows that BreachRx secured new capital from a named group of investors, with Ballistic Ventures leading. The company’s stated plan is to put the proceeds toward commercial expansion and engineering. Its product targets the coordination and documentation work that can span organizational teams during a cyber incident.

The available company and investor materials do not independently establish that Rex improves breach outcomes, outperforms alternatives, or has measured advantages over SIEM, SOAR, or ITSM products. They also do not disclose the round’s valuation or detailed allocation of funds.
