BoxCast can send live broadcasts to YouTube, but its published information does not establish it as a way to run one indefinite 24/7 broadcast. Its plans are built around managed live-event streaming; documentation describes extended broadcasts up to 24 hours on Premium, while the current plan matrix lists extended duration as an add-on. If you want a continuous loop of prerecorded videos, that is a different workflow from recurring live events.
Is BoxCast a fit for an always-on YouTube channel?
It depends on what “always-on” means for your channel. BoxCast supports streaming to YouTube and accepts input from BoxCast Spark or other RTMP- or SRT-supported encoders. It also describes mobile and browser-based streaming options. These capabilities can suit scheduled events, worship services, performances, and other live programming.
They do not, by themselves, establish that a single BoxCast broadcast can run continuously without a defined end. BoxCast’s 2024 Premium support article describes extended events up to 24 hours. Its July 28, 2026 plan matrix lists extended broadcast duration as an Advanced add-on. Check the current plan terms with BoxCast before relying on a longer event limit.
| Your goal | What the documentation indicates | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Stream a live event to YouTube | BoxCast supports YouTube destinations and RTMP, SRT, or BoxCast Flow ingestion across plans. | Plan limits for resolution, frame rate, concurrent broadcasts, storage, and any event-duration add-on. |
| Run recurring scheduled live events | BoxCast’s live-event workflow may fit, but a sequence of events is not the same as one uninterrupted stream. | How events are scheduled and restarted, and what viewers see between events. |
| Loop prerecorded videos continuously | The reviewed BoxCast documentation does not establish this as an indefinite 24/7 playout workflow. YouTube Help lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streams of prerecorded video. | Whether a service supports continuous prerecorded playout, playlist management, and recovery after a dropped connection. |
YouTube Help distinguishes the encoder role: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” BoxCast can be one part of that live-event chain; the channel’s content type and the service’s event limits still determine whether it meets an always-on requirement.

What BoxCast’s plans and limits say
BoxCast’s July 28, 2026 plan matrix lists Basic, Standard, Deluxe, and Advanced tiers. The published limits vary by tier, so do not assume every BoxCast plan supports the same broadcast quality or scale.
| Plan group | Maximum resolution and frame rate | Concurrent broadcasts | Storage retention | Extended duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic, Standard, Deluxe | Up to 1080p at 30 fps | One | 30 days, 90 days, or one year, depending on tier | Not listed as included in the July 28, 2026 matrix; check add-on availability. |
| Advanced | Up to 1080p at 60 fps | Three | One year, as listed by tier | Listed as an add-on in the July 28, 2026 matrix. |
| 4K plan | Not stated in the supplied July 28, 2026 support matrix; confirm current specifications with BoxCast. | Not stated in that matrix. | Not stated in that matrix. | Confirm directly with BoxCast. |
The current BoxCast pricing page lists paid streaming plans starting at $109 per month and shows Standard, Deluxe, Advanced, and 4K plans with monthly and annual billing options. It says streaming plans include at least 10,000 viewer hours per month and no viewer-count limit; Premium is presented for very high viewership. Confirm the live price, billing cadence, viewer-hour allowance, and overage terms on the BoxCast pricing page before purchase.
A separate BoxCast Support Center article from 2024 describes Premium as including 20,000 monthly viewer hours and 50 broadcast and automated live-caption hours, with pay-as-you-go overages, unlimited concurrent streams, and event durations up to 24 hours. Because that article predates the current plan matrix and pricing page, confirm those exact Premium terms with BoxCast rather than treating them as current guarantees.

Equipment, ingest, and stream quality
BoxCast supports RTMP, SRT, and BoxCast Flow ingestion across its plans, according to its plan matrix. Its hardware information identifies BoxCast Spark and says it accepts other encoders that support RTMP or SRT. BoxCast also describes mobile and browser-based streaming, so a dedicated external encoder is not the only documented route. Specific third-party encoder models should be checked for protocol compatibility; the available documentation does not establish model-by-model compatibility.

For Basic through Deluxe, the July 28, 2026 support matrix lists a maximum of 1080p at 30 fps. Advanced is listed at up to 1080p at 60 fps. The pricing page also displays a 4K plan, but consult the live plan details for its exact limits and included features.
Upload bandwidth
BoxCast recommends available upload bandwidth of at least twice the configured stream bitrate. Its vendor example is 8 Mbps of upload capacity for a configured 4 Mbps 1080p stream. This is BoxCast’s guideline, not an independent performance test. Leave headroom for other devices and changing network conditions rather than treating the example as a universal minimum.

Latency
BoxCast states typical latency of about 30 seconds and notes that settings can affect it. Treat this as the vendor’s stated typical figure, not a guarantee for every setup or an independent measurement. If near-real-time interaction matters, verify the expected delay in your own workflow.
Continuity, event endings, and recovery
BoxCast’s SRT setup documentation says an encoder can reconnect to the same server during a broadcast. That is a documented reconnection behavior, not proof that a channel can remain live indefinitely. The same support article says the broadcaster must stop the event in the BoxCast dashboard; otherwise video can continue looping and buffering until the scheduled end time. For continuous operation, establish the planned event end, restart procedure, and viewer experience during transitions before choosing a plan.

How BoxCast compares with continuous prerecorded playout
For a channel built around live services or events, BoxCast’s YouTube distribution and encoder support address the core live-streaming workflow. For a channel that should continuously replay a library of prerecorded videos, compare services designed for that specific purpose. YouTube Help lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video without a camera or dedicated PC; that listing identifies a tool category, not a YouTube endorsement or a comparative review.

When considering any 24/7 service or method for keeping a YouTube stream running, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider for prerecorded-video playout: it runs from the cloud, accepts video in any quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free. It is a YouTube-only service and does not stream from a camera.

Quick Recap
Questions to settle before buying BoxCast
- Does a long-running SRT connection mean 24/7 streaming? No. The documented ability to reconnect to the same server during a broadcast does not establish indefinite event duration.
- Can I assume a particular third-party encoder will work? No. BoxCast documents RTMP and SRT support, but confirm the specific model and configuration with the manufacturer and BoxCast.
- Should I budget from the starting price alone? No. Check the selected plan’s billing cadence, viewer-hour allowance, overages, event-duration add-ons, storage, hardware needs, and any required extra broadcasts.
