The best Bluetooth VoIP phone depends on what you need Bluetooth to do: connect a wireless headset, link a desk phone with a mobile phone, or provide cordless calling through a SIP system. These are different capabilities, and they vary by model. Bluetooth does not make a VoIP phone a cellular phone or guarantee compatibility with your provider.

What “Bluetooth VoIP phone” can mean

Before comparing models, identify the feature you actually need. Product listings may use “Bluetooth” for different functions:

  • Headset audio: Bluetooth connects a wireless headset to the phone. This does not necessarily enable mobile-phone integration or remote call control.
  • Mobile integration: A specific feature may bring mobile call audio, contacts, or call history to a desk phone. A Bluetooth radio alone does not establish that these functions are supported.
  • Cordless SIP calling: A DECT handset system connects to a SIP service and lets users move around within its coverage area. Bluetooth may be available for a headset, but DECT handset coverage and Bluetooth headset range are separate considerations.

Check the exact phone model and its documentation for the intended pairing function rather than relying on a family name or a generic “Bluetooth” label.

Bluetooth VoIP phones and systems to consider

Product Type and documented Bluetooth use Other documented details
Yealink W78P Cordless SIP phone system; Bluetooth 5.1 headset use, or a wired headset. Manufacturer datasheet lists support for up to 10 W78H handsets, 10 SIP accounts, and 20 simultaneous calls. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The datasheet’s publication year was not supplied.
Mitel 6900 Series Selected models 6920 and higher have Bluetooth for wireless headsets and mobile-phone pairing. Mitel lists MobileLink on the 6920w, 6920wt, 6930w, 6930wt, and 6940w. Mitel describes the family as open SIP phones integrated with Mitel platforms and applications; features differ across models.
Cisco IP Phone 8861 Cisco lists Bluetooth for Intelligent Proximity for Mobile Voice. Confirm the required service, device, and model support with Cisco or the phone provider.
Yealink SIP-T87W A service-provider page lists Bluetooth 5.0. Confirm detailed specifications with Yealink before choosing this model; the cited provider listing is not a Yealink manufacturer datasheet.

The W78P is a DECT cordless SIP system, not simply a desk phone with a Bluetooth headset. Its stated capacity figures come from Yealink’s datasheet and should be evaluated against your own number of handsets, SIP accounts, and concurrent calls. Those figures do not establish interoperability with a particular provider.

When a wireless headset is the right solution

If you already have a VoIP desk phone or use a softphone, you may only need a compatible headset—not another phone. VTech describes its wireless business headsets as usable with VoIP softphone services and business desk phones. The company advertises range up to 500 feet and notes that an EHS kit is sold separately. These are vendor claims, not independent test results, and compatibility depends on the specific phone and setup.

Before buying, check both headset audio and call control. A headset may carry audio but require an Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) accessory for remote answer and end functions. Verify whether the exact phone supports the headset, whether an EHS kit or adapter is required, and whether that accessory is included or sold separately.

How to choose the right setup

  1. Define the job Bluetooth should do. Decide whether you want headset audio, mobile-phone integration, or both. If your priority is moving around an office while taking SIP calls, compare DECT cordless coverage rather than assuming a Bluetooth headset solves that need.
  2. Match the feature to the exact model. Check the manufacturer’s documentation for the model number and the specific feature: headset support, mobile pairing, or a named mobile-integration function. Do not infer that every phone in a product series has the same radio or features.
  3. Confirm call control and accessories. For headsets, verify supported headset models and whether remote answer/end requires EHS or another adapter. Check whether the accessory is included.
  4. Check service and deployment fit. Confirm SIP-provider or platform compatibility, handset and account capacity, country or regional availability, firmware requirements, and who provides support. A product specification alone is not a universal compatibility guarantee.
  5. Ask the seller or provider to confirm the complete configuration. Share the phone model, firmware, headset or mobile device, SIP service, and intended calling features. Get confirmation for that setup before purchasing.

What to verify before ordering

  • The precise phone model and firmware version, rather than just the brand or series.
  • Whether Bluetooth is for headset audio, mobile integration, or both.
  • For mobile integration, whether the phone explicitly supports transferring or accessing the particular calls, contacts, or call history you need.
  • For a headset, supported headset profiles and whether EHS or an adapter is required for call control.
  • For a DECT system, the number of handsets, SIP accounts, and concurrent calls your deployment needs, plus coverage in your office.
  • Compatibility and support for your SIP provider, region, and configuration.
