Bluehost’s WordPress hosting plans start at a displayed $3.99 per month, but that rate requires a 36-month term and renews at $9.99 per month. The WordPress.org directory lists Bluehost as its “longest running recommended host”; that is a directory recommendation, not a warranty or independent proof of uptime or speed. Here is what the listed plans, renewal terms, support, and guarantees mean for a blog, business site, or online store.

What does WordPress.org’s recommendation mean?

WordPress.org’s hosting directory describes Bluehost as “WordPress.org’s longest running recommended host.” The directory also says some hosts donate part of a fee from referrals made through that page. The listing is WordPress.org’s published recommendation; it does not establish a performance guarantee, independently measured uptime, or that Bluehost is the right fit for every website. How much does Bluehost WordPress hosting cost?

The accessed Bluehost plan page displays U.S. prices for a 36-month term. Introductory monthly figures are not the full commitment: compare the term total and renewal rate, and confirm the live checkout price, billing total, and taxes before purchasing. Bluehost notes that VAT/GST is excluded. Bluehost plans and pricing

Which Bluehost plan fits your site?

Starter for a small site or blog

Starter has the lowest displayed entry price and lists 10 websites, 10 GB of storage, weekly backups, and chat support. Consider whether weekly backup frequency and the lack of listed phone support meet your recovery and assistance needs before committing.

Business for more sites and phone support

Business lists five times Starter’s storage and site count, as well as phone support. It may suit someone managing multiple sites or who values a phone channel, but Bluehost’s “ideal for 200K visits/mo” is a provider profile, not a verified traffic ceiling or independent performance result.

eCommerce Essentials for store features

The highest listed tier provides the largest stated site and storage allowances and includes store-oriented features such as WooCommerce auto-install, subscriptions, memberships, and paid courses. Choose it for those tools rather than assuming the higher tier alone guarantees faster performance or a particular sales capacity.

What is included beyond the plan table?

Bluehost’s WordPress hosting page lists SSL, a CDN, managed WordPress updates, a site migration tool, global data centers, caching, and staging. Confirm which features apply to the specific plan and any conditions at checkout. The same page advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 99.99% uptime SLA. Bluehost WordPress hosting

Backups and recovery

The plans list weekly backups. That frequency may leave changes made since the last backup unrecovered if a problem occurs. If your site changes often or downtime would be costly, check the available backup and restore options and consider maintaining a separate backup under your control.

What the uptime SLA promises

Bluehost says its 99.99% SLA is based on server and Apache performance. If actual uptime falls below that level, its stated remedy is a single 5% monthly credit claim, submitted within 30 days. This is the provider’s contractual statement and remedy—not evidence that customers experience 99.99% uptime or that a site will be available at that rate. Review the SLA’s full eligibility and claim terms before relying on it. Bluehost WordPress hosting

What support does each plan offer?

Bluehost lists 24/7 support. Starter includes chat but not phone support; Business and eCommerce Essentials list both chat and phone. Bluehost also claims an average response time under two minutes and says it has answered over 10 million WordPress questions. Those are vendor-published figures without an established publication date or independent verification, so they should not be read as audited service-quality measurements. Bluehost WordPress hosting

Is Bluehost fast? What performance evidence is available?

Bluehost displays performance numbers and says it relies on WPShout testing, but the available information does not provide enough comparable methodology and raw results to establish how Bluehost performs against other hosts. A fair comparison would require the same plan class, site configuration, test locations, dates, and repeated measurements. Do not treat the plan’s “ideal for” traffic estimate or the uptime SLA as a speed benchmark.

What should you know about the domain and refund terms?

Bluehost says qualifying 12- or 36-month hosting terms may include a free domain for one year, subject to eligible extensions and redemption conditions. After the first year, the domain renews at then-current rates unless cancelled. If hosting is cancelled but the domain is kept, a fee may apply. Bluehost domain offer terms

Bluehost’s 30-day guarantee applies to hosting and/or solutions attached to the account under its terms, while most add-ons—including domains—are excluded. Bluehost says it does not issue refunds after 30 days. Check the applicable terms for your purchase and any add-ons rather than assuming the guarantee covers every charge. Bluehost refund policy

How much does a WordPress website cost with Bluehost?

The hosting price is only one part of the cost. The displayed plan rates require a 36-month commitment, renew at higher listed prices, and exclude VAT/GST. A domain may be included for one year only if the offer’s conditions are met, then renews at the prevailing rate. Add-ons may be outside the refund guarantee. Before checkout, verify the total due now, the full initial-term commitment, renewal amount and frequency, taxes, domain renewal, and any selected extras.

Verdict: Is Bluehost worth considering?

Bluehost is worth considering if its listed site and storage allowances, support channels, and—on eCommerce Essentials—commerce features match your requirements, and you are comfortable with the long initial term and higher renewal rate. The WordPress.org directory recommendation is a useful signal of recognition, but it is not an independent quality or performance guarantee. If uptime, speed, or backup recovery is critical, evaluate evidence and terms specific to those needs rather than choosing on the introductory price alone.
