Paranoia is a small Black Ops 7 map built exclusively for Face Off. Its central route, parallel Shattered and ER Corridors, and elevated Walkway give you three ways to approach fights. The Walkway looks over Reception and the Waiting Room, while the corridor flank avoids its sightlines. Because the map is compact, Activision’s guide also stresses grenade resistance and choosing when to push rather than rushing into an enemy spawn.
Where Paranoia takes place and how it is laid out
Activision sets the map in the halls of Arceo Medical, inside Mason’s mind, where JSOC fights through hallucinations and fear. The named spaces that matter for orientation are the middle path, Shattered and ER Corridors, Reception, the Waiting Room, and the elevated Walkway. Activision describes Paranoia as small and designed exclusively for Face Off.
The broad middle path is the direct approach. The Shattered and ER Corridors run parallel to it, creating a flank that avoids the Walkway’s sightlines. The Walkway, in turn, overlooks Reception and the Waiting Room. These are different approaches, not a proven ranking of which route is best in every fight.
Choose a route based on the angle you need
Middle path: take the larger direct route
The middle is the larger path through the map. Use it when you want to move directly into the central action, but account for the elevated Walkway’s view over the two named rooms when crossing nearby spaces.

Shattered and ER Corridors: flank outside the Walkway sightline
The parallel corridors offer a quick flank that avoids the Walkway’s sightlines. Large obstacles sit in the center of this route, limiting visibility through it. Activision suggests a shotgun for eliminating enemies on the other side of those obstacles; that is a situational recommendation, not a weapon ranking.
Walkway: control angles, not just height
The upper Walkway overlooks Reception and the Waiting Room, so it offers a view into those spaces. If an opponent is up there, Activision recommends using the high walls on either side to manage angles. Those walls are thin enough for shots to penetrate, so the thicker waist-high cover at either end is a better option when returning fire.

Use the rear rooms as routes or defensive positions
The small rear rooms in Reception and the Waiting Room can lead back into the wider map, or serve as positions from which to target opponents pushing toward a spawn. Activision notes that these spaces can put opponents relying on close-quarters weapons at a disadvantage. Their value depends on timing and the approach an opponent takes; the guide does not identify exact spawn locations or distances.

Build for grenade pressure
Activision warns that grenades of all types are a serious threat on a map this small. Its recommendation is to use Perk Greed to equip both Tech Mask and Flak Jacket for greater resistance to a range of grenades. This is the guide’s loadout advice, not a measured comparison of perk effectiveness.

Vary your timing around enemy spawns
Repeatedly rushing into an enemy spawn can make your approach predictable and expose you to opponents ready for it. Check your surroundings, then decide whether to push or hold a defensive position and let opponents approach. The useful choice is not simply “rush” or “camp”: it is whether the current route and timing give you a favorable angle.
What Fear Trap and Psych Grenade do
Activision says the Fear Trap Field Upgrade and Psych Grenade create neurotoxic gas clouds that cause severe hallucinations in affected enemies. The guide describes two compound options: Distilled Compound increases the effect’s duration, while Acidic Compound adds damage over time. Treat these as effects to consider for a loadout that suits your approach; the guide does not provide performance figures for comparing them.

Activision’s map guide supports the layout and tactical details above. A 2025 multiplayer deep dive classifies Paranoia among the Core 6v6 launch maps, but that does not establish its playlist availability in October 2026. Check current in-game playlists for rotation status rather than assuming the map is currently available in a specific mode. The guide also does not establish objective locations, exact distances, or spawn positions.
