Subsonic is a small Core 6v6 map where the key choice is whether to cross the exposed perimeter, contest the central Hangar, or take the covered rooms north of it. The Hangar’s aircraft offers height and broad sightlines, but leaves you vulnerable; the Briefing rooms trade those sightlines for overhead cover and close-range fights.
How Subsonic is laid out
Activision describes Subsonic as a bomber-team training facility at a military base under fire from nearby Scud. One aircraft sits in the central Hangar; another lies near a crater and overturned truck by the runway. The named points of interest are the west APCs spawn, Impact, Hangar and east Debris spawn. The official map guide frames the main route decision as following destruction around the perimeter or using the Hangar for cover. Activision’s Subsonic map guide and official multiplayer map overview provide the map’s orientation.

- Perimeter: A route through the wreckage and scattered cover, but movement across open stretches can expose you.
- Hangar: The central structure connects the approaches and has multiple entries. Its bay doors can change which crossings are open.
- Briefing rooms: The small rooms north of the Hangar offer a more protected route and encourage close-range engagements.
Choose a route for the fight you want
Contest the Hangar for height
The parked aircraft can be reached by its staircase or by vaulting onto it. From above, it gives you angles toward the spawns and open bay doors, but the position is exposed. Use the height to take a quick look or challenge a crossing, then move before opponents can focus on you; do not treat the aircraft as safe cover.

At Impact, the downed aircraft, crater edge, rubble and overturned truck give you objects to work around. Staying beneath the aircraft’s wing or moving around its body keeps you lower than climbing onto it. The top can provide a brief attack angle, but you give up concealment and become easier to see.

Take the Briefing rooms for close-range fights
The Briefing room and connected rooms north of the Hangar provide overhead cover and a route away from the Hangar’s open central space. Activision’s map guide suggests shotguns or SMGs for this area. Expect opponents to meet you at short distances rather than relying on long sightlines.
Use the perimeter when you can move cover to cover
Aircraft, vehicles, rubble and scattered objects break up the outer lanes, but they do not make every crossing protected. Check the next piece of cover before leaving the one you are using, especially when moving near the runway or across an open approach.

Time the Hangar’s bay doors
The Hangar has six entry points, including two main bay doors operated by separate panels. Each panel opens its corresponding door briefly; a red light indicates that a door is opening or closing. Activision’s guide puts the timing succinctly: “Control panels offer access through the main bay doors, so long as you make it inside before they close again.” The sentence is from the Call of Duty Subsonic map guide by Dan Noel, published October 23, 2024.
- Check the panel beside the bay door you intend to use; the two doors have separate controls.
- Activate the panel, watch for the red light, and move through promptly while the door is open.
- Do not assume the opening will remain available for teammates or a later crossing; coordinate the push around the short window.
The official Intel Card also suggests timing a Strategic Bomber attack on an outer lane as the nearest bay door is about to close. Treat that as a timing option, not a guaranteed way to clear the lane.

Equipment and publisher-recommended loadouts
Activision recommends Impact Grenades around aircraft, vehicles, rubble and the rooms north of the Hangar. Its Intel Card suggests Scavenger and Danger Close to replenish grenades. These are map-specific publisher suggestions, not evidence that a particular grenade setup is best for every player or match.
The publisher’s guide also presents example builds for the PP-919 SMG, XM4 assault rifle and ASG-89 shotgun. They are official loadout examples, not independently tested or guaranteed best-in-class configurations. The choice among them follows the same route tradeoff: a close-range option suits the Briefing rooms, while your preferred weapon and engagement distance should guide whether you push those rooms, the Hangar or the perimeter.
