Neither the Birkenstock Arizona nor the Gizeh is established as universally better for wide feet. Both official US product listings reviewed offer regular/wide and medium/narrow options. Choose the width that fits your measurements and keeps your foot within the footbed; then choose between the Arizona’s two adjustable straps and the Gizeh’s thong-style strap and toe post based on comfort.

Use the brand’s width guidance
Birkenstock’s US measurement template instructs users to trace a foot. Its rule is: “If the outline falls within the curve indicated, then we recommend a narrow model. If the outline falls outside the curve indicated, you need a model with regular width.” Follow the template’s instructions and check availability for the particular sandal you want.

Check foot placement in the sandal
For the Gizeh, Birkenstock says the foot should remain within the footbed; toe or ball-of-foot overhang at the sides indicates the sandal is too narrow. Its fit guidance gives approximate clearances of 5 mm at the heel, 10 mm at the toes, and 10 mm between the upper strap and arch. When the Arizona may suit you
The Arizona has two adjustable straps, so you can adjust their position over the foot. If you dislike having a strap between the toes, that construction may make the Arizona more comfortable for you. It does not establish that the Arizona is wider.

When the Gizeh may suit you
The Gizeh’s toe post and thong-style strap are the defining comfort difference. Some wearers may prefer that arrangement; others may find the toe post uncomfortable. Width labels alone cannot predict how the strap will feel or sit on your foot.
What the comparison can—and cannot—establish
The available manufacturer guidance supports checking width through measurement and footbed fit, not naming one style as the winner for wide feet. It does not provide independent tests, comparative sandal measurements, or wearer-trial results establishing that one model fits wide feet better. Treat the listings and their options as changeable, and verify the exact style, size, width, and market before ordering.
